This wikiHow teaches you how to enable AirPlay connectivity on your iPhone, Mac, or Apple TV. The AirPlay feature allows you to stream multimedia content from an Apple device to an Apple TV. It can also be used to play audio files through a speaker that is compatible with the AirPlay service, such as a HomePod.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: iPhone

Step 1. Activate the Bluetooth connection
If the Bluetooth connectivity of the iOS device is disabled, follow these instructions:
-
Launch the app Settings by touching the icon
- Select the item Bluetooth.
-
Activate the white "Bluetooth" slider by moving it to the right

Step 2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network if necessary
The iPhone must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network to which the device to which data is to be transmitted via AirPlay is connected (for example an Apple TV).
If you need to connect your iPhone to a set of speakers using the AirPlay 2 feature, skip this step

Step 3. Make sure the device you want to AirPlay data to is turned on and working
If not, turn it on before continuing.

Swipe your finger up from the bottom of the screen.
If you are using an iPhone X you will need to slide your finger down the screen starting from the upper right corner

Step 5. Select the Duplicate Screen item
It is visible in the center of the iPhone "Control Center" panel. A small menu will appear.

Step 6. Select the device to beam to
Select the device to connect to via AirPlay visible in the menu that appears.

If you have speakers that are compatible with the AirPlay 2 feature, you can play the music on your iPhone via AirPlay:
- Launch the Music app.
- Play the song you want to hear.
- Scroll down the page to be able to select the triangular AirPlay icon.
- Now tap on the device you want to stream audio to.
Method 2 of 3: Mac

If your Mac's Bluetooth connectivity is disabled, turn it on before continuing.

Step 2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network if necessary
The Mac must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the device to which the data is to be transmitted via AirPlay is connected.

Step 3. Make sure the device you want to AirPlay data to is turned on and working
If not, turn it on before continuing.

Step 4. Click on the "AirPlay" icon

Step 6. Select the device to stream content to
Click on the name of the device with which the Mac will communicate in streaming.

Step 7. Use AirPlay from iTunes
If you want to take advantage of AirPlay technology to be able to listen to your music from your Mac, rather than duplicating the screen, follow these instructions:
- Launch iTunes.
- Play the song you want to stream.
- Click on the AirPlay icon located to the right of the volume slider.
