From time to time Android releases software updates that improve the features and functionality of your Samsung Galaxy S3 phone. In most cases, software updates will be sent to you and downloaded from your Galaxy S3 automatically; however, you can also manually update your phone by navigating through the menus and checking for updates available.
Steps
Step 1. Tap “Settings” on the home page of your Samsung Galaxy S3
On some devices, you may need to tap “Menu” or “Apps” to access Settings
Step 2. Tap “More” at the top of the Settings menu
Step 3. Tap the option called “Software Update” or “System Update”
If none of these options are available, tap on "Phone" to be able to access them
Step 4. Tap “Check for Updates” or “Update Samsung Software”
Your phone will connect to Samsung's servers to check for the latest Android updates.
Step 5. Tap “Continue” when it appears, to update your software
The phone will now begin to download the software for the update. It may take several minutes to complete the operation.
Step 6. Tap “Reboot Device” when the update is complete
The phone will reboot and make the updates take effect.
Step 7. Tap “Done” when it appears
Your Samsung Galaxy S3 will now be updated and ready to use!
Warnings
- Try not to update the software at times when you are waiting for important calls, messages or other notifications. During the software update, the device will be temporarily disabled until the operation is completed.
- Keep your phone with you while it updates. If the wi-fi connection drops, the software may fail to update and you will have to repeat the operation.
