Method 1 of 3: Decorate a Candle with a Ribbon
Step 1. Buy a candle
Choose a scented one or not, depending on your preferences. It can be of any color, size or shape but keep in mind that the white ones are the easiest to decorate, as their color is more easily matched to any ornament.
You may already have a suitable candle in your home. Take a look around, it may not be necessary to buy a new one
Step 2. Choose the ribbon
Be creative. Ribbons are perfect for decorating candles. There are so many types and colors that you are spoiled for choice!
- If your candle is colored, choose a ribbon of the same shade or a color that goes well with hers.
- Choose a cloth, paper, or plastic ribbon. They are all more than fit for purpose.
Step 3. Choose how to match the ribbon to the candle
Once you have chosen the ribbon, you will need to decide how to approach it to the candle. For example, you can have it wrap the candle in one or more spirals or make a bow.
- Wrap the ribbon around the candle to take the necessary measurements and then cut it to the right length.
- If you want to make a bow, cut out a piece of ribbon and tie a bow knot. Trim the ends of the bow in a "v" shape to make it look neater.
Step 4. Attach the ribbon with glue
Use a heat gun, vinyl glue, or quick-set glue to attach the ribbon to the candle. Start by applying a bit of glue to one end of the ribbon and wrap it around the candle starting from this point. As you go, apply more glue tips to secure the tape. Finally, apply a last bit of glue to the free end of the tape and fix it to the starting point.

- Keep a cloth handy to remove excess glue from the candle.
- If you are going to attach a bow, tie it at the knot level, where the ends of the ribbon meet.
Step 5. Wait half an hour to give the glue time to dry

Method 2 of 3: Decorate a Candle with Flowers
Step 1. Choose the candle to decorate
Votive candles are an excellent choice, as the flowers accentuate their delicate shape. Thin candles are not particularly good, as the flowers may come off too easily.
Step 2. Get some dehydrated flowers
Visit a handicraft shop and buy some dried flowers. You can choose from daisies, chrysanthemums, violets and other beautiful flowers that will make your candle stand out.
- If you prefer not to use dehydrated flowers, you can purchase artificial ones. Choose between silk or plastic flowers. Their greatest value is that they will never wear out.
- You can also make paper or fabric flowers yourself.
Step 3. Choose the reason
You can apply the flowers to the candle in any order or by following lines; you can also put them to make a polka dot candle. Consider the following possibilities:
- Create a flower garden. Apply the flowers along the lower edge of the candle, creating the effect of an explosion of flowers sprouting upwards.
- Make some flowering vines. Arrange the flowers in vertical rows as if they were vines with their tendrils twisting around each other.
- Make a floral border. Glue the flowers along the top edge of the candle, leaving the rest unadorned.
Step 4. Glue the flowers to the candle
Use the heat gun or vinyl glue. Choose where to attach the first flower and put a bit of glue on it. Apply the flower in that spot, pressing, and hold it in place for thirty seconds.
- If the flower falls, it may be too heavy. Choose a lighter, flat-shaped flower.
- If the flower doesn't stick, try holding it against the candle for a full minute.
Step 5. Proceed to design your floral pattern
Put another tip of glue in another point of the candle, attach the second flower and hold it down. Continue to attach the flowers to the candle until you are happy with the result, then wait for the glue to dry. Now your candle is ready to be given as a gift or to decorate your home.
Method 3 of 3: Decorate a Candle with Wax
Step 1. Purchase candles of different colors
One will be the one you are going to decorate, the others, once melted, will provide the wax needed to make the decorations. Make sure you get candles of complementary colors.
Step 2. Decide how to decorate your candle
You can color it half in one color and half in another, create a polka dot texture or make modern art-style shapes. Have a clear idea of what you want to accomplish before starting work, since the wax takes root very quickly.
Step 3. Melt the colored wax
Choose the color to start with. Melt the wax in a wax heater or place it in the microwave - in a container suitable for this type of cooking - for a few minutes. Once melted, handle the wax with extreme caution or you risk burning yourself.
- Place the jar with the wax in it on a cloth or paper towel so it doesn't damage the work surface.
- You could carry out the operation in the kitchen or bathroom to make less confusion at home.
Step 4. Realize the reason you have in mind
You can dip the candle in colored wax or use a brush to paint it. After giving a first layer of color, melt another candle and continue with the work. You will notice how the wax hardens quickly.
