A short guide to starting from scratch. We will briefly review the product / service, the website, the market and how to sell.
Steps
Step 1. Choose what you want to do
Focus on a hobby or interest. This means that you already have a good understanding of the product and, more importantly, you are enthusiastic about what you are doing.
Step 2. Identify a problem / need, assess its potential and be ready to exploit it
Use the Google Adwords keyword tool to measure potential based on relevant keywords.
Step 3. Evaluate the competition
Check out what your competitors are doing right and take a closer look at what they're doing wrong. Work out your strength or competitive advantage. This can be something as obvious as the cheapest prices, the best customer service, new products and so on. Quantify the competition through the keywords you identified in the previous step with the “ilovepage1” keyword tool through the 2 KPIs of the main competition: Pagerank and Allintitle.
Step 4. Brand yourself
Your company's branding is very important and is the starting point of marketing. Do you need a professional and aggressive logo or a familiar and friendly atmosphere to sell your product? Get an appropriate name and try to get an idea of the people interested in you.
Step 5. Build a website
The site should be themed according to the brand image. For the layout, you could copy from a successful competitor. If you need a web designer, find someone local. You will need to meet him in person and make sure you know who you are dealing with.
Step 6. Advertise shamelessly
Talk to everyone you know about your site. Add it to every directory and search engine you can find. There are many good and free ones. Enter the forums and related chats. Word of mouth is a very effective marketing tool; however, be sure to abide by the forum rules.
Step 7. Use newspapers and periodicals
You can submit an article about your new business to newspapers. If you are able to source and publish a good article, you will have thousands of visitors.
Step 8. Conclude the sales
Now you need all these people to buy from your site. Don't be arrogant, but explain the benefits of the product to people. Use testimonials. Create the "need" for the customer to buy your products, as opposed to the simple "desire". By offering discounts and limited editions, it creates a sense of urgency; people don't like to miss opportunities!
Step 9. Distribute newsletters
Offer a free email on your newsletter site, giving people the opportunity to send you an email and receive important tips and tricks in your area of expertise. In these emails, you can also suggest some new products and offers. Don't be aggressive, though, as it will scare potential and repeat customers.
Step 10. Work hard and commit
Remember that success comes to those who work for it, which generally most people don't like to do. Which also means less competition.
Advice
- If you are getting a lot of people on your site, then you might be thinking about making money from advertising.
- Find a proven online business system that will allow you to be successful.
- Don't be intimidated by big competition. Remember: Competitors were in the same situation as you when they started.
Warnings
- Always set realistic deadlines and beware of companies that don't meet them.
- If you have a site built, always pay only for the work done.
