Minecraft Pocket Edition is the mobile version of Minecraft, available on mobiles and tablets with iOS, Android, Fire OS and Windows operating systems. As with all games, updates are available from time to time that make the application more stable, fix bugs or expand content. Updating Minecraft PE on your device is quite simple and it is advisable to always install the latest version, so that you can take advantage of all the features available and be sure that the application is working correctly.
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Update from the Apple App Store
Step 1. Open the App Store on your Apple device
This is the round blue icon with the white A inside. Press it to open the online store.
Step 2. Select the "Updates" tab from those at the bottom of the screen
Scroll through the available updates looking for Minecraft: Pocket Edition. The app will appear in this list if it can be updated; if you don't see it, it means you already have the latest version installed.
Step 3. Press "Update"
The Minecraft: Pocket Edition update operation will start automatically.
On iOS 7 and later, you can set up automatic app updates. To do this, go to Settings> iTunes and App Store. Under Automatic Downloads, press the Automatic Updates Download button (so it turns green). Disable "Use Cellular Data" if you prefer to download shows only when connected to a Wi-Fi network
Method 2 of 5: Update from the Google Play Store
Step 1. Open the Google Play Store
On devices using the Android operating system, look for the colored triangle icon (play button). Press it to open the Play Store.
Step 2. Go to "My apps"
From the main page of the Play Store, press the button at the top left (with the three horizontal bars), then select My apps.
Step 3. Find Minecraft:
Pocket Edition. Scroll through the list of applications. Once you find Minecraft: Pocket Edition, if a newer version is available you will see the green "Update" button next to it (next to the "Uninstall" one).
If you don't see the Update button, you've already downloaded the latest version
Step 4. Press "Update"
If a newer version of the app is available, press the button and the installation will proceed automatically.
- Turn on automatic updates for the app by pressing the three-dot vertical button in the top right corner of the page and checking the Update automatically box.
- To set automatic updating for all your apps, press the menu button at the top left of the Play Store, then go to "Settings"; under "General", select "Automatic app update" or "Automatic app update via Wi-Fi only" if you want to save cellular data traffic.
Method 3 of 5: Update on a Windows Phone
Step 1. Open the Windows Phone store
The icon looks like a bag with the Windows logo squashed in the center. Press it to open the app.
Step 2. Check for updates
To do this, press the menu ("…")> Settings> Check for updates. Wait for the device to create the list of programs that need to be updated.
Step 3. Update Minecraft:
Pocket Edition. Press "Refresh" if you see the app appear in the list.
- To set automatic updates for all apps, open the Store menu "…"> "Settings"> "App updates" and turn on "Automatically update my apps". In this same screen, you can enable the Update via Wi-Fi only option, in order to save data traffic on the cellular network.
- To download an update using your cellular network after turning on the option to update only via Wi-Fi, go to the Store menu> Downloads. Once you have found the app to update, press the "Update" button.
Method 4 of 5: Update on Fire OS
Step 1. Open the Amazon App store
On Amazon devices, press Apps> Store from the Home screen.
Step 2. Find the update you are looking for
Press Menu> App Updates. If a newer version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition is available, you will find it in this section; if not, you have already downloaded the most up-to-date one.
Step 3. Update the app
Hit the "Update" button next to the name.
To get updates automatically, open the App store, then press Menu> Settings. Turn on automatic updates and the apps will be downloaded when your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network
Method 5 of 5: Finding Free Updates
Step 1. Find out what the latest version is
Until January 2017, the latest version of Minecraft: PE is 0.17.1. With a quick internet search (use the keywords Minecraft: PE latest version), you will quickly find the answer you are looking for.
For this method to work you must already have Minecraft: PE installed on your device
Step 2. Find a download
Search for "Minecraft: PE 0.17.1 Free Download" or "Minecraft: PE APK Latest Version". Once you've found a trustworthy site, download the latest version of the app.
Step 3. Find out if the version is compatible with your device
Open the file; if it is the right version, no error message should appear.
Step 4. Uninstall the original app
For the update to work, you need to uninstall Minecraft: PE from your device. Once done, install the updated version.
Advice
- It is best to update applications when the device is connected to the Wi-Fi network and to a power outlet.
- Make sure there is enough storage on your device before starting downloads or updates.
