Step 1. Open the App Store on your Apple device

Step 2. Select the "Updates" tab from those at the bottom of the screen

On devices using the Android operating system, look for the colored triangle icon (play button). Press it to open the Play Store.

From the main page of the Play Store, press the button at the top left (with the three horizontal bars), then select My apps.

Step 3. Find Minecraft:

Pocket Edition. Scroll through the list of applications. Once you find Minecraft: Pocket Edition, if a newer version is available you will see the green "Update" button next to it (next to the "Uninstall" one).

Step 4. Press "Update"

If a newer version of the app is available, press the button and the installation will proceed automatically.

  • Turn on automatic updates for the app by pressing the three-dot vertical button in the top right corner of the page and checking the Update automatically box.
  • To set automatic updating for all your apps, press the menu button at the top left of the Play Store, then go to "Settings"; under "General", select "Automatic app update" or "Automatic app update via Wi-Fi only" if you want to save cellular data traffic.

The icon looks like a bag with the Windows logo squashed in the center. Press it to open the app.

Press Menu> App Updates. If a newer version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition is available, you will find it in this section; if not, you have already downloaded the most up-to-date one.

Hit the "Update" button next to the name.

To get updates automatically, open the App store, then press Menu> Settings. Turn on automatic updates and the apps will be downloaded when your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network

Until January 2017, the latest version of Minecraft: PE is 0.17.1. With a quick internet search (use the keywords Minecraft: PE latest version), you will quickly find the answer you are looking for.
