Google Maps allows you to add contact information, such as names, phone numbers, and email addresses. When you type a friend's name into the Google Maps search box, their address saved on Google Maps will be displayed. You can add contacts to Google Maps via Google Contacts.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Adding Contacts to Google Maps
Step 1. Visit the Google Contacts site
Open a new web browser tab or window and go to the Google Contacts page.
Step 2. Sign up for Google Contacts using your Google account
Google allows you to use a single account for all of its products. Enter your Google email address in the first box for registration or access and password in the second. Click on the blue "Subscribe" button under the two boxes.
Sometimes you may not be asked to sign up, especially if you have logged in to any Google product, such as Gmail or Google Chrome, so you are already connected. In this case, instead of having to complete a login window, you will be directed directly to your Google contacts
Step 3. Click on the "Add New Contact" button
The "Add New Contact" button is in the lower right corner of the page. It is represented by a red circle with the symbol (+). A small window will appear at the top of the page where you will need to enter a name.
Step 4. Type the name of the person / organization you want to add to Google Maps
Do this in the text field, and when done, hit "Create" at the bottom. You will access the Edit Contact page.
Step 5. Enter contact information
The Contact Edit page has several options. You can add a photo, a nickname, an e-mail address, a telephone number, address, date of birth and additional notes. You can add all the fields that are required of you; however, as you are adding contacts in Google Maps, the most important field here is "Add address".
Click on the Add address option and a box will appear where you can type the address of the person or organization, for example "Nairobi, Kenya"
Step 6. Click on "Save" to save the details
Once you click on "Save", a pop-up window will appear showing the name of the contact that has been added and the address. Close the window to return to the Google Contacts page.
Part 2 of 3: See the Contact in Google Maps
Step 1. Go to the Google Maps website
Open a new browser tab and go to the Google Maps web page. A Google Maps page will open where a map is displayed.
Step 2. Type the name of the contact you saved in the search box
The search box is in the upper left corner of the Google Maps home page. Type the name of the contact you just added and press Enter on your keyboard. Google Maps will search for a while, then show the contact on the map, confirming that it has been added to Google Maps. Also results similar to the contact you added will be displayed.
Step 3. View the location
Scroll and click on the contact you added to view their location on the map, which will be indicated by an icon. Google Maps will zoom the map and show the address of the contact you added. You can zoom in further until you see the exact location.
If Street View is available for that location, you can also use it to verify. Just drag the Google pegman (the orange man) from the right side (above the buttons to zoom in) and release it at the icon indicating the position. This activates Street View mode. Use the directional and zoom keys to navigate
Part 3 of 3: See the Contact Using the Google Maps App (for Android and iOS)
Step 1. Open Google Maps
Go to the phone app menu and tap the Google Maps icon to open the application. When the app starts, the map will appear on the screen.
If you don't have the app installed on your phone, be sure to download it for free from your device's store
Step 2. Type the name of the contact you added in the search box
The search box is located at the top of the Google Maps page. As you type, suggested contacts will appear in the search results.
Step 3. Tap the result you are interested in to see the person's address on the map
The result of the address of the person you searched for will be displayed in the suggested contacts. Touch the correct contact on the list, and Google Maps will zoom to the position corresponding to the address, which will be indicated by an icon.
