Compared to desktops and laptops, mobile devices are relatively fragile, and while it's important to back up all your data, it's essential to back up the device itself as well. Fortunately, you can back up data on an Android device using a Google account or perform a backup and restore operation on your mobile phone.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using a Google Account
Step 1. Tap the settings app
The icon looks like a gear and is usually found on the home screen or in the Applications menu. Tap it to access Settings.
Step 2. Look for the "Account" section by scrolling down
It should be between the "Accessibility" and "Google" options. Select it to access the menu.
If your mobile has several sections within the Settings app, "Accounts" should be in the one titled "Personal"
Step 3. Select Google
A menu will open showing all your Google accounts and allowing you to select the applications you want to back up.
- If you use more than one Google account on your mobile, you will need to select the account you want to back up.
- If you don't want to back up a certain Google application, press and hold it to deselect it.
Step 4. Tap the update icon
It is located to the left of your Google account. Tapping it will synchronize the applications with the Google account you are logged in to. All selected apps will be backed up.
Synchronization should start automatically when the menu is opened, but you can make sure that the backup is up to date by tapping the appropriate icon
Method 2 of 2: Using "Backup and Restore"
Step 1. Tap the Settings app
The icon looks like a gear and is usually found on the home screen or in the Applications menu. The Settings menu contains an option called "Backup and Restore", which allows you to back up default system applications, such as Email and Messaging.
Step 2. Tap "Backup & Reset"
It is located in the Settings menu, between the items "Google" and "Language and input".
Step 3. Tap "Back up my data"
A menu will open that will allow you to select the basic mobile applications, such as Clock, Messages and Phone.
You may be required to login to access this menu. The method of access depends on the mobile phone; it may be necessary to use the Samsung account or the one associated with the service provider
Step 4. Select the applications you want to backup
To do this, tap the slider next to the application name to activate it.
You can also turn on automatic backup at the top of this menu. These applications will be backed up every 24 hours (as long as the phone is charging)
Step 5. Select "Back up my data now" to start the process
It will take a few seconds.
Step 6. To restore your data, enable "Automatic restore" in the "Backup and restore" menu
It is located under "Back up my data".
