Create your candles inside glass jars, thus giving protection to the flame to use it outdoors, or simply to create a pleasant atmosphere by making it shine at home. It is also a great gift idea for those friends or family who like scented candles.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Preparing the Wick
Step 1. Smooth out the wick to straighten it
Step 2. Hold the wick in place by attaching it to a pen or similar object
Make sure the bottom end of the wick reaches the bottom of the jar and is centered.
Method 2 of 3: Preparing the Candle
Step 1. Turn the stove on to low
Place the saucepan on the stove.
Step 2. Place the wax flakes in the saucepan
Stir constantly. The wax should melt but not boil.
Keep stirring until the wax is completely dissolved
Step 3. Pour the scented oil and dye into the melted wax
Slowly add the dye until the desired intensity / hue is achieved. Adding the dye too quickly could result in a too vibrant color
Step 4. Keep stirring until the dye and fragrance oil are fully incorporated into the melted wax
Step 5. Pour the melted wax into the glass jar
Once you have an even consistency, pour the wax into the glass jar. This consistency should resemble that of a well-blended smoothie.
It may take 20 to 30 minutes to reach that consistency
Step 6. Let it sit
The candle will be ready to use once it has become solid.
Method 3 of 3: Using the Candle
Step 1. Use your candles wherever you need protected natural light, such as at the beach, for example, or on an outdoor table set
These candles look wonderful lined up at the edges of a walkway
Advice
- Once the candle has almost reached the bottom of the jar, use a long match or lighter to relight it.
- It may take up to 24 hours for the candles to completely cool. Wait at least 24 hours before turning them on.
- Clean the saucepan by placing it on the stove over low heat. Let the wax residues melt and then remove them with a paper towel.
- Cut the wick to a length of 1cm before lighting the candle.
Warnings
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Turn them off if there is no one to keep an eye on them.
- If you are using them in the bathroom, keep in mind that glass tends to break if it hits tiles or other hard surfaces.
- If you are outdoors, keep candles away from shrubs, leaves, or dry grass. Use them only in open places, with gravel or in cemented or humid areas.
