When you lit your room with candles to create a romantic atmosphere, you thought you had a terrific idea. But in the cold morning light, those wax stains on the carpet don't look good. If wax has stained your carpet, read on to find out how to get rid of the problem.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: The Iron
Step 1. Turn on the iron
The thread must be long enough to get to the stain. Set the iron to the lowest possible temperature and do not use steam even if the option is available.
Step 2. Remove excess wax using a blunt knife
You can also use the back of a butter knife. Try to remove as much wax as possible while you wait for the iron to heat up.
Step 3. Now place some paper or a sheet of newspaper on the remaining wax, passing over the iron

Keep moving the iron slowly, as if you are ironing clothes, but be careful not to burn anything.
The heat will melt the wax which will be absorbed by the paper.
Step 4. Continue ironing on a clean piece of paper or cloth until the remaining wax has been absorbed
Step 5. Check for any stains
If you find a stain:
- Try blotting the area using an alcohol-soaked rag. Avoid soaking the carpet, or the alcohol will pull the carpet off the floor.
- Keep working on the stain until it disappears from the carpet.
- Cover the area with a clean cloth, then lay some books or other heavy objects there and leave them there overnight so that the fabric completely absorbs the remaining alcohol.
Method 2 of 2: Lighter and Spoon
Use this method if you don't have an iron handy
The technique is the same, but different tools are used that are normally found in all homes.
Step 1. Cool the wax with ice cubes
Take four or five cubes and put them in a plastic bag that you will place on the stain.
Step 2. Wait for the wax to freeze, then use a knife to gently remove as much wax as possible without damaging the fabric
Step 3. Cover the remaining wax with paper towels
Step 4. Use a lighter to heat the convex part of an old spoon for 5 to 10 seconds
A match will also work, but the lighter is easier to handle and doesn't risk burning yourself or spilling ash.
Step 5. Place the hot spoon on the absorbent paper next to the stain
Make sure the concave part is positioned exactly on the wax. At this point, the wax should melt and the blotting paper should absorb it.
Step 6. Add more paper to repeat the process, reheating the spoon and placing it on the wax
Step 7. Clean the residue of the stain with alcohol or carpet cleaner
Use alcohol (as described in the previous section) or a carpet-specific product to get rid of the wax completely.
- Mix half a tablespoon of carpet cleaner with 2 cups of water.
- Dip a rag into the solution, wring it out, and place it on the stain.
- Try to clean the wax with gentle movements from the outside to the inside, being careful not to stain other portions of the carpet.
