Whether you don't want to disappoint your parents or are afraid of possible repercussions for your behavior, you can follow these simple steps to prevent your parents from finding out that you smoke.
Steps
Step 1. Don't feel bad about yourself
Your parents will continue to love you even if you smoke, but they will certainly disagree.
Step 2. Hide cigarettes and lighters
Clean up after smoking each cigarette. Try not to use matches, instead use a lighter, because the matches give off an unmistakable smell.
Step 3. Avoid smoking indoors or around the house
Step 4. Do not throw away the inner roll of toilet paper
Fill it with used tissues and exhale the smoke through this sort of filter. Otherwise, attach a handkerchief to one end of the roll using a rubber band: it will have the same effect as the filter above.
- Try to smoke away from your home.
- Only smoke when you are with your friends, or when your parents are not at home.
- In some areas you can find vacant houses or homes for sale, where you can sneak in and smoke (be aware that it's illegal and you'll get in trouble if you get caught).
- If you smoke in the car, be sure to clean the dashboard, handles, steering wheel and gearbox with a cloth or by hand as ash tends to accumulate in these areas. Know that using a perfume to disguise them could make them suspicious. If you happen to stop at a gas station, wash your hands and nostrils before going home (apparently the smell is concentrated in this area, altering your sense of smell) and instead of using perfume, you prefer soap and water. to remove the smell even from clothes: it will hide the perfume and arouse less suspicion. Chew gum but be sure to throw away any empty packets. Also, know that sooner or later they will find out: it is inevitable. If you intend to continue smoking, you will make it easier by directly admitting it all.
Step 5. If you smoke in the car, roll down the windows slightly and be sure to keep the cigarette out of the slot just behind the mirror
Turn on the heating or air conditioning (depending on the time of year) and direct the jet towards the nearest open window, to allow the smoke to escape. If you are wearing a hoodie pull it up while you are smoking. Make sure you exhale the smoke forcefully out the window. Then roll down the windows all the way, keep the heat on, take off your sweatshirt, turn it upside down and put it out in the air. Drink a soda both during and after, clearing your throat and improving your breath. Afterward, chew gum and sprinkle some perfume or deodorant on your hands. Wash your hands with soap as soon as possible. Take a stroll to allow the air to change inside the car, and to remove the smell from you and the passengers. When you get home, don't leave the windows down unless it's late summer.
Step 6. Try to get rid of the cigarette smell before entering the house
The time it takes to disperse the smell is 45 minutes for one cigarette, adding 15 minutes for each additional cigarette.
- Keep a bottle of perfume or deodorant in the car just in case. If you use too much perfume, your parents may get suspicious.
- Similarly, take a peppermint or chewing gum to improve your breath. Chocolate works great against smoker's breath. If you need to drink to get rid of the remaining odor, avoid water or fizzy drinks, preferably a glass of milk.
- Oranges and their essential oil help mask the smell of cigarettes very well. You can try taking an orange with you by saying it will be your snack. After smoking, peeling and eating the orange, you will be able to simultaneously cover your fingers and breath with the aroma of the orange. Otherwise you can use latex gloves and take them off when you're done.
- Get the smell off your fingers, as former smoking parents tend to focus their investigations on that area. You can get rid of it with a flavored soap, a degreasing product, or by wiping your hands in the grass before entering the house.
- If you don't want your hands not to smell like a cigarette, try to hold it while avoiding touching the filter while smoking.
- If your parents say you smell like cigarettes, you might say you've been in a public place (like a bar), or at the home of a friend who smokes or whose parents smoke. Either way, you may be annoying your parents, so be careful.
Step 7. The smell of smoke also settles on the hair
Before entering the house, find a sink and sprinkle some water on your hair. If possible, take a shower.
Step 8. Behave naturally around your parents, as if you have nothing to hide
Look them in the face and don't get nervous, or you'll end up making them suspicious immediately.
Step 9. If you have long hair, style it up before smoking so the smoke doesn't stick too much into it
Otherwise, wear a cap or hood that you take off before entering the house.
Step 10. Eat some mints, at least 4 per cigarette
Step 11. If you smoke weed, you shouldn't worry as the smell of maria doesn't stick to your skin

Warnings
- Smoking causes cancer of the tongue, throat and lungs. Smoking kills. Do not smoke if pregnant or under age. Smoking causes your teeth and hands to turn yellow, as well as causing wrinkles around your lips from constantly inhaling.
- If your parents don't smoke, they will find out, regardless of the effectiveness of your misdirection attempts. Even if you think you have eliminated the smell, they will still be able to smell it, this is because non-smokers have a healthier and more sensitive nose. If one of your parents has a super sense of smell, they'll catch you in no time!
- Some former smokers are extremely sensitive to the smell of cigarettes. If your parents fell into this category they could discover you faster than a non-smoker.
- The perfume trick doesn't always work - if you spray too much of it, your parents may think you get high with the fumes of your perfume. Parents with a great sense of smell will also be able to discover the smell through perfume. Run your tongue over your teeth to get rid of the odor and make sure they know some of your smoking friends to blame them if they ask you why you smell like an ashtray. Otherwise you could be brilliant by responding with a “Cool!”, Not showing nervousness and avoiding arousing suspicion.
- Remember, if your parents find out about your lies, they may not trust you anymore.
- The smell of a cigarette remains for about an hour, plus 15 minutes for each additional cigarette.
- Cotton clothes retain odors better than most other fabrics.
- Some cigarettes smell stronger than others: Marlboro Red and Camel are very strong, while Menthol Marlboro Lights are among the most odorless.
