Organizing your school case is key to making sure you start the year in the least stressful way possible. Finding the right case can make it easier to prepare. Throughout the year, you will always be able to find everything in an instant. With the right organization, it will be much easier to do well in school.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Fill the Case
Step 1. First, buy the necessary items
During the school year, each student must carry certain stationery items with them every day. Some subjects may require more specific tools, but initially you need the bare minimum to optimize your organization. Here is a list of unmissable articles:
- Two pencils.
- One red, one blue and one black pen.
- Pencil sharpener.
- Protractor.
- Scissors of 12 centimeters.
- Eraser.
- Compass.
- Glue stick.
- Highlighter.
- Calculator.
Step 2. Place the items in the pouch from largest to smallest
Place items that take up the most space, such as calculators, scissors, or protractors, on the bottom of the container. They will form a base for smaller items, such as pencils, pens or sharpeners. When you search for a certain item, the case will be neater and easier to rummage through.
If you're using a zippered pencil case, lay it on its side, with the zipper facing left or right. It will be easier to slip the items in and this will help you make better use of the interior space
Step 3. Add or remove articles as needed
Since you already have all the main tools, adding other elements based on the various subjects shouldn't be difficult. If you need to put small items in them that could get lost easily or that have the same function and need to be used together (like markers), group them in a box or secure them with a rubber band before storing them in the case.
- If you're in elementary school, you'll usually need colored pencils, wax paints, and markers. To save space, choose the colors you use most for each type of instrument, remove them from their boxes and wrap them with rubber bands.
- If you go to junior high or high school, you may need post-its. Put them in an airtight bag. This way you will be sure that they will not tear or bend in the case.
Step 4. Periodically clean and rearrange the case
Once a month, clean it to keep it tidy so you can easily find what you need all year round. As the school year progresses, many let pencil shavings and notes invade the container space. Instead, throw away what you don't need and replenish it when needed.
- Get rid of broken pencils or wax paints.
- Replace the highlighters that no longer write.
- Replace the glue stick and finished tires.
Part 2 of 2: Choosing the Case
Step 1. Buy a pencil case with multiple compartments of various sizes
It will help you organize the articles effectively. Try to choose one that is layered, so you can fit all the tools you need into it.

Step 2. Choose a case made of a strong fabric
Putting it in the backpack, carrying it around, keeping it on the counter and so on are all actions that will wear down the fabric. Choose one that is less prone to tearing to prevent the contents from spilling into your backpack or onto the floor.
- Try to buy a nylon pencil case. Not only is it easier to clean, it's solid enough to stay intact should you fill it completely.
- Hard plastic cases are durable, but be careful how much material you try to store. If you put in too many things, you will have a hard time closing it because this container has a lid instead of a hinge.
Step 3. Determine the size
A medium pencil case is preferable for most subjects. But maybe you also have lessons that require more space for specific tools, such as a ruler, so a larger pencil case would be more suitable.
If after a few months of school you find that you don't use many tools, switch to a smaller case. It will fit smoothly in your backpack. Since it won't take up much space, you can also keep it on the counter all the time

- Write your name on the box so it can be returned to you if you lose it.
- Buy a clear case for classwork. This way you can leave it on the bench during the test.
