This wikiHow teaches you how to stream a live video on Twitch using an iPhone or iPad.
Steps
Step 1. Open Twitch on your device
The icon is depicted as a square speech bubble on a purple background. It is usually found on the main screen.
Step 2. Tap your avatar
It is located at the top right and allows you to open your profile.
Step 3. Tap Enter Live Mode
It is the first button under the number that indicates the total of your followers.
Step 4. Activate the camera and microphone if this is your first time broadcasting live
If you don't see the option to activate the camera or microphone, read the next step.
- Touch Activate camera and touch Ok.
- Touch Activate microphone and touch Ok.
- Read the rules and tap Ok at the bottom of the screen.
Step 5. Give your stream a title
Touch Give your stream a title to open the keyboard. Choose a title that describes the content of the live and then tap Done.
Step 6. Select a category from the drop-down menu
There are several, from "Art" to "Travel and camping" which is the default option. To choose another one, tap the "Travel & Camping" button, then tap the relevant category for your live stream.
- Creators and crafts: use this category if you want to show live the process you follow to create something, such as music production, art projects and DIY;
- Food and drink: use this category if you want to interact with viewers while you eat;
- Music and performing arts: Select this category to stream music or other types of art. You must own the rights to the music being played on Twitch;
- Talk shows and podcasts: use this category if you intend to direct talking about specific topics.
Step 7. Select the camera direction
By default, Twitch opens the front camera. If you want to use the rear one, tap the camera icon with the two arrows in the top right.
It is also possible to change the direction of the camera during live broadcast
Step 8. Choose a sharing option (optional)
If you want to send the live URL to someone, tap Share on … at the bottom of the screen, then select an app. The URL will be sent once you start streaming.
Step 9. Tap Start Streaming
It's a purple button at the bottom of the screen. If the phone has been rotated horizontally (panorama mode), streaming will start automatically.
- If your mobile is in portrait (portrait) mode, you will be prompted to turn it sideways to start streaming.
- If screen rotation is locked, open the "Control Center" by swiping your finger up from the bottom of the screen. Then, tap the pink lock icon inside the curved arrow to unlock it.
Step 10. Tap the screen when you want to stop streaming
Different icons and options will appear.
Step 11. Tap Finish in the top left
A confirmation message will appear.
Step 12. Tap Stop Streaming
At this point the device will stop streaming on Twitch.
