The Xbox 360 headset allows you to chat with your friends and opponents while playing on Xbox Live. There are several models of headphones, including wired headphones and two models of wireless headphones. Connecting these headphones to an Xbox 360 system is very simple and will allow you to communicate with your friends in minutes.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Connect a Wired Headset
Step 1. Turn the headphone volume down completely
You will reduce the chance of damaging your hearing during the first connection.
Step 2. Connect the headset to the controller
There is a connection jack located in the lower center of the controller. Use it to connect headphones.
Step 3. Put on the headset
As you begin your gaming session, gradually increase the volume of the headset until it reaches a comfortable level for use.
This type of headset is used for voice chat only. Game audio or music playback cannot be transferred to the headset
Step 4. Troubleshooting common problems involving a headset that is not making sound
If there is no sound from the headset, it may be defective or the controller connection port may be dirty. Make sure that the connecting cable is not damaged and that the connector is perfectly clean. You can use a cotton swab and denatured alcohol to clean the connection port.
Method 2 of 3: Connect a Wireless Headphone
Step 1. Before using it, fully charge the headset battery
Plug the USB charging cable into the USB charging port on the headset. Plug the other end of the cable into a USB port on the console. To be able to recharge, the Xbox 360 must be turned on.
- If you have a charger, you can use it to charge the headset battery. While the battery is being charged, the headset cannot function.
- When the headset battery is fully charged, all four indicator lights will flash simultaneously. Full charging will take a couple of hours.
Step 2. Turn on the console and headset
Press the power button on the console and then press the connect button on the Xbox 360, then press and hold the connect button on the back of the wireless headset for two seconds.
The headset will connect to both the console and the controller. The indicator light on the headset will indicate which controller it has been assigned to. You can change the controller the headset is paired with by pressing the connect button on the headset
Step 3. To mute the headset, press and hold its power button
The headset will emit a double beep each time the audio setting is changed.
Step 4. Adjust the volume
Press the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the headphone volume.
Method 3 of 3: Connect a Bluetooth Headphone
Step 1. Update your Xbox 360
In order to use the Bluetooth headset, you will need to update the console's operating system to the latest version available.
Step 2. Before using it, fully charge the headset battery
Plug the USB charging cable into the USB charging port on the headset. Plug the other end of the cable into a USB port on the console. To be able to recharge the Xbox 360 must be turned on.
- When the headset light stops flashing, charging will be complete.
- Charging the headset will connect it to the console at the same time.
Step 3. Connect the wireless headset to the console
If the headset has not been connected to the console for battery charging, you can connect it in Bluetooth mode. After the first connection, the headset will automatically connect to the console as soon as it comes within range to receive the signal, both in Bluetooth mode and in Xbox mode.
- Move the switch on the side of the headset to see the green color below. This will put the headset into Xbox mode.
- Press and hold the power button for two seconds. The headset indicator light will start flashing green.
- After hearing the headphone wake-up audio signal, press the connect button for two seconds.
- Within 20 seconds, press and release the connect button on the Xbox 360 console. The headset lights will flash three times.
Step 4. Change the controller assigned to the headset
The headset connects to both the console and a controller. The headset indicator will show the number of the controller it is connected to. You can change the controller number by pressing the power button or the connect button on the headset.
