Do you find yourself with an empty punching bag and want to fill it up? You have various options at your disposal. Think about how heavy you want it and decide how much chaos you are willing to face; then, choose one of these possible methods.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: With Clothes
Step 1. Take some clothes or rags and remove all zippers and buttons with scissors
Make sure there is nothing that can damage the bag from the inside.
Step 2. Fold the clothes into a square and place them at the bottom of the bag
Step 3. Continue filling, making sure there are no gaps in the bag
Step 4. If you notice any bumps, flatten them with the side of your hand
Method 2 of 3: With the Sand
Step 1. Use sand if you want your bag to be heavier
Some need to use sand, otherwise the bag is too light for their liking. However, it is not recommended to put sand in the bottom of the bag, as it can harden and potentially cause injury. Also, you shouldn't pour the sand directly into the bag.
Step 2. Fill half the bag with old clothes
In this way the sand will not sink to the bottom, where it can become very hard.
Step 3. Put one plastic bag inside another so that they are more resistant
Pour some fine sand into a plastic bag. Once the latter becomes about the size of a 1kg packet of sugar, tie it up with a knot and wrap the excess plastic around it. Tie everything together with duct tape.
Step 4. Fill the bag
Once you have several bags filled with sand, place them in the center of the punching bag. Make sure they are surrounded by at least 7-8cm of clothes or rags on each side - this way the force of your fists won't tear the sandbags.
Step 5. Adjust the bag according to your needs
If it is too heavy, or if in the future you decide you want a lighter bag, just open the top end and remove the sandbags one by one, until you get the weight of your choice.
Method 3 of 3: With Sawdust
Step 1. Using clothes or rags, fill the bag well up to one third of its height
Step 2. Over the clothes, insert a rubble bag
Step 3. Fill the rubble bag with sawdust
Make it reach the inside edges of the punching bag.
Step 4. Twist the end of the debris bag and tape it closed
If necessary, use other bags. Do not put sawdust directly into the punching bag!
