It's 4 in the morning and you need to wake up in a few hours. You were sleeping well but something or someone woke you up. Now you can't get back to sleep no matter how hard you try! Read this article to learn how to fall back asleep quickly.
Steps
Step 1. Try to lie down in silence
Wherever you are sleeping, make sure there is not too much noise around. Even if you're comfortable in bed, it can be very frustrating to hear the sound of a dripping tap or the annoying chirping of a bird outside. You can try putting pillows / sheets over your ears, or else just try to wait for the noise to stop by itself, or try to get used to it.
Step 2. Use the bathroom
If you have to go pee, do it! Otherwise holding it can become painful, and it may not make you sleep, of course. Yes, you will have to get out of bed, and it won't be as nice as staying warm, but try to keep the same comfortable feelings you had in bed. Then you will feel like new and you will not regret it!
Step 3. Keep your eyes closed
Try not to look at any kind of light, as your brain becomes more and more active as it tries to interpret what is happening in the surrounding environment if there is any light. It can be helpful to use a night mask or anything that works to cover your eyes. If you don't use most of your senses, it will be easier to fall back asleep.
Step 4. Think about sleep
Think about sleeping and how good it is to rest. Think you are tired and without energy. If you have the idea of sleep and fatigue in your head, sleep should come easily. If you take naps every now and then, think of this as your next nap and imagine your surroundings as the same environment in which you take your naps. If you never take naps, think about how exhausted you were after a long hard day of school / work (late or past) or how tired you were when you went to sleep the night before.
Step 5. Relax
Meditating for a few minutes can help a lot. Forget the idea of not being able to get back to sleep. Relieve tension in the less relaxed parts of your body and lie down with few or no sheets to cover you.
