This article explains how to turn Wi-Fi on and off on a PC running Windows.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Windows 10
Step 1. Click on the Wi-Fi icon
It is depicted by this symbol:
. If Wi-Fi is off, the icon will have a red "x" in one corner.
- If your PC is connected to a network cable, you will not see this icon. Instead, click on the icon depicting the symbol of a computer with a network cable on the left side.

If you don't see any of these icons, make sure the Wi-Fi card is turned on. Here's how to do it:

Click on the menu
and select Settings

- Click on Network and internet;
- Click on Wifi in the left panel;
- Scroll down and click on Change card options;
- Click on the wireless card with the right mouse button and select Skills.
Step 2. Click on the Wi-Fi button
It is located in the lower left corner of the menu. If Wi-Fi was disabled (so it had a red "x"), it will be re-enabled and will start working.
- To turn off Wi-Fi again, click this button once again.
- If your keyboard has a dedicated Wi-Fi key, you can use it to quickly toggle it on and off. In the first row of keys, look for a button depicted as an antenna with curved lines radiating from the center.
Method 2 of 2: Windows 8
Step 1. Move the mouse cursor to the right side of the desktop
A scrolling menu will open.
Step 2. Click on
This option is found at the bottom of the menu.
Step 3. Click on the Wi-Fi button
It is represented by vertical bars and is located at the bottom of the menu.
Step 4. Click on the "Wi-Fi" button to turn it on or off
When Wi-Fi is turned off, the word "Off" appears next to the button.
