The Apple TV is definitely a nice little toy, full of lights, ports for connections, and on which you can load a lot of fun stuff. Only one detail is missing, an on / off switch. You may be wondering: but then how do I turn it off? Read on to find the answer to your question, and you'll be able to shut down your Apple TV in seconds.
Steps
Step 1. Access the Apple TV main menu
Select the 'Menu' button on the remote and wait for the menu screen to appear on your television.
Step 2. Find the settings icon
She is depicted with a gray gear. Select it to access the settings menu.
Step 3. Turn off the Apple TV
Scroll through the list of settings until you find the item 'Put to sleep'. Select it, the Apple TV will go to stand-by and, to confirm this, the indicator light on the front panel of the device will turn off and the television will show a black screen.
Step 4. Turn it back on
When you're ready to use your Apple TV again, simply press any button on the remote.
Advice
- If you want, you can set the Apple TV to turn off automatically after a certain amount of time. In the settings screen select the first item of the 'General' menu, scroll down the list until you find 'Shutdown After', now set the time interval you prefer.
- If you've planned to be away from home for a few days, and want to prevent your Apple TV from consuming power while on standby, unplug the power cord to turn it off completely.
