This article explains how to make a video call using the WeChat app for computers and mobile devices.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Mobile Devices
Step 1. Launch the WeChat app
It is characterized by a green icon with two speech bubbles inside. If you are already logged into WeChat, you will be redirected to the last tab of the program you used.
If you are not logged in yet, press the button Log in, enter your phone number and security password and press the button again Log in.
Step 2. Select the Contacts tab
It is located at the bottom of the screen.
If you want to open a conversation you've recently joined, select the tab Chat located in the lower left corner of the screen.
Step 3. Tap the name of a contact from the address book
Depending on the number of WeChat contacts you have registered in the address book, you may need to scroll down the list in order to select the person to call.
If you've chosen to call someone you've recently chatted with, select the corresponding conversation
Step 4. Tap the Messages option
It is displayed in the center of the screen under the name of the contact you have chosen. The chat page with the selected person will be displayed.
If you have chosen to use the card Chat, skip this step.
Step 5. Press the + button
It is located in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 6. Select the Video Call option
It has a camera icon and is listed in the menu that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Step 7. Wait for the call to be forwarded
The person you contacted will receive a notification informing them that you are calling them. If the recipient accepts the video call, you will be connected.
If you prefer, you can select the option Switch to voice call displayed in the center of the screen to temporarily disable the camera.
Method 2 of 2: Computer
Step 1. Launch the WeChat app on your computer
It features a green icon featuring two white speech bubbles. You can find it by searching through the Spotlight field (on Mac) or in the "Start" menu (on Windows).
- If you have not yet installed the WeChat app on your computer, visit the website https://www.wechat.com/it/, click on the icon corresponding to the operating system on your computer displayed in the center of the page, then, at the end of the download, double-click on the installation file and follow the instructions that will appear on the screen.
- If you are asked to log in using a QR code, follow these instructions: launch the WeChat app on your mobile device, select the tab the located in the lower right corner of the screen, tap your name displayed at the top of the screen, tap the item My QR code, push the button … located in the upper right corner of the screen and finally select the option QR code scan. Now point the camera of the device at the QR code appeared on the computer screen in order to log in.
Step 2. Click on the "Contacts" tab
It features a stylized human silhouette and is placed on the left side of the WeChat window.
Alternatively, you can click on the "Chat" tab if you want to contact a person with whom you have already had a chat conversion
Step 3. Click on the name of the contact you want to call
Your contact list will be displayed on the left side of the WeChat window. You will be redirected to the contact information page of the selected person.
If you have chosen to use the "Chat" tab, click on the conversation you wish to open
Step 4. Click the Messages button
It is green in color and is located on the right side of the WeChat window. The chat page with the selected person will be displayed.
If you have chosen to use the card Chat, skip this step.
Step 5. Click on the "Video Call" icon
It features a video camera icon and is located in the lower right corner of the WeChat window. The video call will start.
Step 6. Wait for the call to be forwarded
The person you contacted will receive a notification informing them that you are calling them. If the recipient accepts the video call, you will be connected.
