This article explains how to download Flowplayer videos embedded in web pages, using the Chrome browser on a Windows or Mac computer. To download some videos, just press the appropriate button; otherwise, you need to use a Chrome extension or look up the video address in the source code. Remember that many Flowplayer videos are encrypted, so you won't be able to download them if they don't have a specific download button. At the same time, downloading protected Flowplayer videos may be illegal in your country.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using vGet on Chrome
Step 1. Check if the video can be downloaded
If you have Firefox installed on your computer, you can use it to search for downloadable videos within a web page; this will save you time when trying to find and download the movie:
- Open Firefox.
- Go to the website that contains the Flowplayer video.
- Play the video if it doesn't start automatically.
- Right-click (or Control-click on a Mac) anywhere on the page.
- Click on View page information in the menu that appears.
- Click on the tab Average.
- Scroll through the results, looking for "Video" in the "Type" column. If you see a video on the page, you can continue with this method; if not, you probably can't download the movie.
Step 2. Open
Google Chrome.
Click on the app icon, which features a red, yellow, green and blue sphere.
Step 3. Open the vGet extension downloads page
This extension allows you to quickly download all unencrypted Flowplayer videos.
vGet does not allow you to download videos that are impossible to obtain
Step 4. Click Add to Chrome
You will see this blue button at the top right of the page.
Step 5. Click Add Extension when prompted
in this way you will install the vGet extension on Google Chrome; you should see the app icon appear, which looks like a down arrow, in the upper right corner of the browser window.
Step 6. Visit the site that contains the video you are interested in
Open the page with the Flowplayer movie you want to download.
Step 7. Play the video if it doesn't start automatically
The vGet extension in some cases requires the video to be played to be able to find it, so be sure to click "Play" if necessary before continuing.
Step 8. Click on the "vGet" icon
It's the down arrow you see at the top right of the Chrome window. Press it and a menu will appear.
If you don't see the icon, click on first ⋮ in the upper right corner of Chrome, then click the "vGet" button among the first of the menu that appears.
Step 9. Click on the video name
You should see the title of at least one movie in the newly appeared menu; click on it and you will download it to your computer.
- If you don't see any video appear in the menu, the video can't be downloaded.
- Based on your Chrome settings, select the save location before continuing.
