Do you want to have a perfect wardrobe, with clothes for all occasions and full of style, without spending too much? Then this is the article for you! By following these steps, you will have the closet that every teenager dreams of. Keep reading.
Steps
Step 1. Take all your clothes out of the closet
If you don't know what you have, you won't be able to know what you need! Lay out all clothing on the bed and immediately discard any that have holes and tears. Don't forget the shoes! Try everything that's left. Even knowing or thinking that a dress looks good on you, it's always better to give it a try than put it back in the closet and then regret it. You can donate anything that doesn't suit you or you no longer like to charity. You can also sell the clothes you no longer want in a thrift store or on the internet; in this way, you will earn some money to invest in the new wardrobe.
Step 2. Make a list
Now that you've rearranged the closet, write down what you want to buy. Try to make a general list and then categorize it, so your shopping trips will be less stressful.
Step 3. Buy comfortable underwear
- Slip. To be on the safe side, you should have 10 to 20 pairs. Include classic culottes and panties, for everyday wear, and seamless and cutest briefs for special occasions.
- Bras. If you play sports, you need to have a suitable pair. Add two or four nude, black or pastel shades (for everyday wear), one strapless and one or two push-ups.
- Undershirts. They are absolutely inevitable in a teenager's wardrobe. They are ideal for dressing in layers and you can find them almost anywhere. First, choose neutral colors: white, black, gray, beige. Once you have completed the basic wardrobe, you will be able to buy more.
- Top. Buy a pair of fitted or soft tops. Choose them from a good brand.
- Socks. You will need 10 pairs of socks that reach to the ankles (to wear every day), a few pairs of low socks (for trainers) and socks that reach to the knees or beyond them. If you want, add some soft socks.
Step 4. Buy stylish, versatile pants and skirts
Every girl should have a nice denim skirt to wear in the summer. Skinny denim shorts and fluffy Bermuda shorts work just as well. Add a few dark wash skinny jeans and soft jeans. They are indispensable in any self-respecting wardrobe. Don't forget the leggings! Try to find some nice and comfy pants (one more fashionable and one more suitable for staying indoors) for leisure time.
- Sweatpants. Two or three pairs will suffice. Make sure they are of good quality, that they fit you perfectly (neither too loose nor too tight) and that they allow you to create at least two outfits.
- Jeans. You may want to buy dark or medium wash ones, as they are the most versatile, but you can also opt for colored, patterned, faded or washed-out ones if you like them.
Step 5. Get stylish sweaters and sweaters that fit you well
Basically, you can choose any shirt that suits your style. Stay away from loose t-shirts. Flowing tops and sweaters are ideal. Buy them in a variety of colors and styles. Don't get used to buying the same shirt in every single color just because you like it too much.
Jackets and overcoats. The choice depends on where you live. If you live in a cold and snowy place, get ski jackets, one or three coats to wear every day, a light coat and a vest. If you live in a mild climate, get a warm jacket, a light coat, and (optional) a vest
Step 6. Buy comfortable pajamas
Try to have two to five comfortable suits. Think about the climate. In the summer, some girls simply prefer to wear a t-shirt or a loose tank top. In winter, you can combine a long-sleeved shirt or hoodie with your pajama bottoms.
Step 7. Get cute clothes for different occasions
You should have two to six different outfits, including a black one. Make them stand out in different styles and colors. Some should be good for parties, others for when you want to be casual, still others for less-casual occasions, such as at church.
Step 8. Purchase a variety of nice, inexpensive but quality shoes
Shoes are essential to complete an outfit. Make sure they are on trend and fit your personality, but without letting your credit card take a hit. Here are some pairs to start with:
- Gym shoes. You should have at least a couple of them. This also depends on how many sports you play. In general, you should have at least one pair of running shoes. If you play football or hockey, of course you will need more specific footwear.
- Sneakers. You will need at least one pair of sneakers like Converse, Vans or Nike Blazer. They are ideal for going to the mall, the park or a friend's house.
- Sandals. Buy a pair or two of cute and comfortable sandals. You can wear them for going to the beach and for summer walks. The moccasins are also fabulous.
- Boots and walking boots. The choice depends on where you live. In general, you should have a pair of hiking boots. Also, you should have a pair of black boots that go over the knee. Uggs are very popular and suitable for everyday wear. You can also add a pair of summer boots. In winter, go for black, while leaving the bright colors to summer.
- Dancers. A pair of ballet flats is always comfortable, also because they adapt to many outfits. Bright colors and cute geometries always complete a match and change the whole look. You should also have a pair of black or gray ones, which will come in handy on numerous occasions. Always keep them close at hand.
- Heels. Aim for a pair or two of heels. One should be absolutely black, the other a trendy color. Make sure they match your formal dresses and dresses.
Step 9. Choose accessories that are cute and flattering you
Buy several pairs of earrings. If you've never had any, start with beads and diamond earrings, fake or real. The necklaces are just as delicious and you will find them in different styles and colors. Try to avoid infant necklaces and bracelets; they were fine until a few years ago, but now that you're a teenager, try to have a look that fits your age. Accessories must be bought at the end, because they must adapt to the clothes and give a final touch.
Scarves and foulards. Scarves are good in autumn and winter, while scarves are good in spring and summer. Choose them in bright colors and with cool patterns, avoid brown or dull colors. Follow fashion and experiment
Step 10. Buy discounted clothes
When you walk into a store, take a look at the merchandise on sale first, even if you notice other items right away. Especially in expensive outlets, it's best to consider the offers before focusing on the new collection.
Step 11. Look for clothes and accessories on sale
To save money, you need to shop as soon as the sales start, especially in the more expensive stores. During the rest of the year, to find out when a store discounts the goods, you should subscribe to various newsletters and follow the various brands on social networks. Also, shop on the internet. Keep up with the latest trends and styles that are in fashion.
Step 12. Shop at thrift stores and at the market
Also, pop into several outlets, which sell brand new clothes from old collections; you can get great deals, just as you could at clothing discount stores. Among other things, some sell pieces rejected by the shops. Everything will be new, never used before, and you may find cute clothes. The best part? The tag will remind you how much money you can save!
Advice
- Don't wear provocative clothes! Avoid the see-through ones and don't wear thin shirts without a bra. Also, remember that the bra should not show through a shirt, this will distract attention from the rest of the outfit.
- Stick to the budget. If you can't afford a lot of clothes, don't waste your money!
- When you go to school, you don't necessarily have to get all dressed up, but you don't have to go sloppy dressed either. Wear casual clothing, such as a hoodie, vest, jeans / jeggings / leggings and Converse, or similar shoes.
- Buy only items of clothing that you won't get bored with. If you're still growing up, don't spend too much money on clothes.
- As for shoes, try to avoid flip flops. They are cute, sure, but they are really bad for the feet.
Warnings
- Don't make fun of people who don't dress fashionably.
- Don't be consumed by the anxiety of looking perfect. Wear what you like and don't get obsessed with trends. You don't have to look like the model that appears on the cover of the last magazine you bought. You don't have to copy anyone. Stay yourself and bring whatever makes you feel comfortable, and which, of course, is approved by your parents.
- Don't get overwhelmed by brands. For example, if you buy clothes with logos and brands in plain sight, are you sure you will like them even in a couple of years or in a few months? In most cases, it is better to opt for simple clothing.
