Getting bored can be fun if you know what to do. All you need to do is find something to focus on to occupy your free time, and once you find it, you won't be bored again. Read some of these tips and in no time you will be having fun!
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Part One: Doing Things Manually
Step 1. Start a notebook made from scrap scraps
Quadernetti thus represent a fantastic way to spend time and to recall the important moments of your life. Make one as a gift for a friend of yours, or cut out images from a magazine you like.
Step 2. Bake or cook something
The great thing about baking or cooking is that doing it in itself involves the passage of time, plus you can eventually enjoy something delicious (hopefully). Dust off your cookbook, or take a look at the recipes you find online and try one.
Step 3. Work with the fabric
Knitting, sewing and crocheting are fun too. If you are bored it is the ideal time to practice these techniques. If you get good enough, you can sew clothes and sweaters yourself.
There are a lot of models that you can find in books in the library and on the internet. You can also look for vintage designs for your dresses and suits
Method 2 of 5: Part Two: Using Everyday Objects
Step 1. Call or write to a friend
Feel how others are doing, or invite a friend to join you. You could brainstorm to find something to do and thus use the time available. You will have someone to talk to and time will pass quickly.
Step 2. Build a fortress
There are many ingenious ways to build a fortress. Use some pillows, a couple of blankets and the sofa and create a den all to yourself. No matter how old you are, a fortress is always fun.
Step 3. Read
Reading is fun and you can choose a book, magazine or newspaper. Reading something not only helps pass the time but also keeps the mind active. A little free time is an opportunity to try something new.
- Read a mystery and try to guess the solution of the case before the detective, or try the fantasy or science fiction fiction.
- Try reading something non-fictional or spiritual, philosophical, paranormal or otherwise something related to the sacred, such as the Bible or the Koran.
- Go to the library and see what books there are. There are even libraries that have an online database, so you can consult it while staying at home!
Step 4. Play sports
A great way to cure boredom is to do some exercise. By doing so, you will release endorphins, which in turn will help you feel better and make your body happy. Run, bike, walk, explore the city you live in, do yoga, jump rope, do the hula hoop.
Spend this time exploring the city you live in. You will exercise, at the same time you will fight boredom, and perhaps you will discover some secret place
Step 5. Make yourself glam
Try out different makeup styles to see how they fit on you. Go through your wardrobe and select the outfits you might wear in the days to come. Combine the costume jewelery with clothes and make-up and discover the accessories.
Do nail art. Create funky designs or put on different colored nail polishes
Step 6. Do something with your pet
If you have a pet, pamper it by bathing it and cutting its nails. Teach him a new trick to impress friends and family.
Step 7. Practice
When you have nothing else better to do, it is the best time to work on those skills of yours that you are trying to perfect. If you play soccer, grab a ball and go play in the nearest yard or park and practice dribbling. If you play the piano, you can sit down and play a couple of songs. You don't necessarily have to practice scales, rather you could try your favorite song.
Step 8. Watch a movie
You can search for a movie online, or go to a video store and rent one. You could even take a tour and go to the movies. Maybe try to watch something you wouldn't normally watch, such as a documentary or a detective story.
Method 3 of 5: Part Three: Clean Up
Step 1. Fix up your wardrobe
If you're bored, this is the time to engage in activities that you would normally ignore, such as tidying up the closet. Go through your clothes and evaluate what no longer fits you or what you don't wear. You will feel satisfied by making room for more stuff.
Step 2. Clean your room
Make sure everything is in place and looks nice. Having a clean room will help you feel fulfilled and tidy.
Step 3. Clean the places you usually wouldn't clean
Go to the attic or garage and consider the things you could get rid of and what you could clean instead. While cleaning, you may also find something you may have lost.
The places that people usually forget to clean or rarely check are: behind the refrigerator, the handle for the toilet roll in the toilet, the light switches and the dishwasher. Grab a cleaning cloth and give these places a good clean
Step 4. Clean your computer
Clean the screen and the space between the keys. If it was once white, do your best to restore its original color.
Rearrange your desktop so you can easily find what you're looking for, and make sure all your documents are sorted into properly cataloged folders
Method 4 of 5: Part Four: Making Plans
Step 1. Write
You will probably have a pen or pencil and some paper somewhere in the house. Unleash your creativity. Write your own book, or a poem. Try writing a movie script, or just keep a diary of your life.
Step 2. Paint or draw
Grab a pen or brush and let your imagination go. Make a mural on the wall (if you have permission to do so), or create birthday invitations or some greeting cards for friends and family.
Step 3. Make some music
Write your own melodies, or words for a lyric, then try them out. You can also use a percussion pot (just make sure you don't disturb your neighbors this way).
Step 4. Decorate
Hang that picture that has been in the cellar for a year and a half. If allowed, repaint your spaces. Move the furniture around, or repaint the walls.
Step 5. Repair household items
Maybe you have a sink that is leaking and needs repair, or maybe the steps at the entrance seem to be sagging. Take advantage of this downtime to remedy that annoying door creak and you'll feel fulfilled rather than bored!
Step 6. Learn something new
A little free time is always useful for learning something new and interesting. After that, you can impress friends and family. Learn how to do magic, find out how to become a fire-breathing or how to make chain mail!
Method 5 of 5: Part Five: Making a Difference
Step 1. Make a donation to a local food bank
Especially if you have used your free time to get rid of things you no longer need, you can donate these things to a food bank; things like clothes you don't use (but are in good condition, not stained or torn), or canned food.
You can also offer your time at a food bank, helping to refuel or serve food if they do. It's a good way to help make a difference and to occupy time that would otherwise be wasted doing nothing
Step 2. Spend time at the local kennel
It helps in caring for animals, walking dogs and keeping them clean. Kennels often need volunteers willing to help, plus you can take advantage of them to play with the animals (especially if you don't have any) - and at the same time you will find yourself doing something useful.
Step 3. Ask a friend or relative if they need your help with anything
You don't have to help strangers, you can also lend a hand to people you know. Offer to help them with garden work, or to clean their house. This will allow you to use your free time for a good cause, while also giving you the opportunity to be with someone, and so you will find yourself doing something nice for others. Not a bad way to heal from boredom.
Advice
- Challenge yourself: do something you never thought you could do before.
- Look at the things around the house that might give you an idea of what to do. For example: if you've seen a pencil, it might make you want to write.
- Above all, have fun! Spend your time with pleasure doing everything you can.
- Do something to keep your mind busy, like making a list of the regions of Italy in less than 2 minutes.
