There is nothing better than a punch to make a party unique and unforgettable. Adding a drop of alcohol will make the event even more fun! It takes just a few ingredients to make three incredible types of punch: Hawaiian punch, classic sangria, and proper Arnold Palmer.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Hawaiian Punch
Step 1. Buy fruit punch
It is the base to which to add other ingredients. The fruity flavor covers the taste of alcohol, but remains a pleasant drink. It is a flexible base that can be combined with different types of alcohol and fruit juices. If you already have fruit punch and some alcohol at home, you can make this punch without buying anything else. Either way, chances are you need to shop for the party.
Step 2. Choose an alcoholic
Hawaiian punch goes well with any type of alcohol. For example, you can mix it with vodka, rum, flavored spirits (watermelon, strawberry, peach, etc.), champagne and Southern Comfort. Remember that it's not an exact science, so let yourself go and experiment with what you like best.
- You will need 2 parts of alcohol and 3 parts of fruit punch. Do not use this proportion with pure alcohol; in that case, 5 or 6 shot glasses are enough for 3.7 liters of punch, otherwise you might feel sick.
- Certain liqueurs, such as chocolate or licorice, do not go well with fruity punch.
Step 3. Mix the punch in a bowl
Pour in a lot of ice, along with the predetermined amounts of fruit juice and alcohol. Taste and tweak to get the right flavor.
Step 4. Add some fruit toppings before serving
Brighten the punch with a few slices of lemon, lime, or fruit skewers with pineapple, watermelon, passion fruit, orange, cherries; you can put them in every glass, obtaining tasty and alcoholic appetizers to munch on when the punch is finished.
Method 2 of 3: Classic Sangria
Step 1. Buy all the ingredients
Sangria originated in Spain and is a classic punch of the area. It is a fruit-based drink, with an absolutely delicious taste, which adds an exotic touch to any party. The classic recipe involves the use of wine, chopped fruit and brandy, but the latter can be easily replaced with any alcohol you already have at home. If you don't have much time, you can also avoid adding sweeteners and sugar, relying on the tart but fruity flavor of cranberry juice to add body and sweetness to the drink. All you need is red wine and the fruit of your choice. The proportions are as follows:
- 1 bottle of your favorite red wine. There is no need to buy expensive wine, as the flavor will be masked by the juice and fruit. White wine is used to prepare the so-called white sangria, which tends to be sweeter, so be careful when adding the various ingredients.
- 1 or 2 cups of fresh fruit cut into pieces, such as oranges, lemons, limes, apples, peaches, cantaloupe, and grapes. The fruit cubes should be about 2.5 centimeters in size so that they mix well with the sangria without completely disintegrating. Experiment with different combinations with other types of fresh fruit. You don't have to worry about the texture of the fruit, which will remain full-bodied and crunchy for a long time, making the sangria extremely tasty both to drink and to eat.
- 2 cups of a drink to dilute the wine. Both fruit juices and fizzy drinks are fine, but pay attention to the balance of flavors and sweetness.
- To add some bubbly to sangria, add a carbonated drink, such as Sprite or soda water. In that case, add them at the last moment, just before serving the sangria, because the bubbles will disappear quickly.
Step 2. Mix the ingredients
Empty the wine bottle into a large container, adding the pieces of fruit and a drink of your choice. Remember not to completely cover the flavor of the wine which, in any case, will seem much less alcoholic.
Step 3. Let it cool in a pitcher or large pitcher before serving
Just before serving the sangria, add some ice to keep it cool. In this case, choose the container carefully because the pieces of fruit could prove to be a hindrance. A lid or colander might come in handy for adjusting the proportion of wine and fruit in each glass. In Spain and other parts of Europe, sangria is often served with a wooden spoon to easily catch the fruit that settles at the bottom of the bowl.
Method 3 of 3: Arnold Palmer Correct
Step 1. Collect all the ingredients
The Arnold Palmer is a summer classic, especially in the South of the United States where it is known as "Half & Half", but it owes its original name to a professional golfer from the 1960s. Arnold Palmer invented this delicious combination of iced tea and lemonade, then started ordering this drink in the bars where he later became famous. Arnold Palmer Corretto contains three very simple ingredients: iced tea, lemonade and bourbon. The perfect proportion is as follows: 4 parts iced tea, 4 parts lemonade and 1 part bourbon, but it's not a very complicated cocktail, so you can change the proportions based on the number of guests.
Step 2. Make the tea
Put 5 tea bags in 4 cups of boiling water. Leave them to infuse for 5 minutes before removing them. If you don't want to make tea at home, you can buy it ready-made.
Step 3. Make the lemonade
To make lemonade you need to squeeze 8 lemons, adding 1 and a half cups of sugar and up to 6 cups of water, adding more sugar to taste. Let it cool before serving the cocktail. If you don't want to make fresh lemonade, you can buy it ready-made at the supermarket.
Step 4. Mix the ingredients
Combine 4 cups of tea, 4 cups of lemonade, and 1 cup of bourbon in a large container. Adjust the aspect ratio according to your preferences.
Pour everything into a pitcher or pitcher and let it cool before serving. Generally, Arnold Palmers Corretto is served with lots of ice, a wedge of lemon and a sprig of mint for garnish
Advice
- Both light and dark liqueurs will work well for fruit punch.
- Add a fruity liqueur with a pleasant flavor along with a more intense Bacardi 151.
- Fizzy drinks like Sprite add some bubbly to the punch without changing the flavor too much.
- You can also use frozen fruit juice instead of regular juice.
- To improve the taste of the punch, add freshly squeezed juice. Even a simple orange juice will do just fine, or something more exotic, like kiwi and strawberry juice.
- If you have decided to make iced tea and lemonade at home for Arnold Palmer, double the doses to offer a non-alcoholic drink even to those who do not drink alcohol and the younger ones!
- Strawberry lemonade, mint iced tea - the possibilities are endless. Lemonade can accompany almost any type of drink, but absolutely avoid herbal teas.
Warnings
- Don't add too much alcohol if you don't like it.
- Pay attention to your friends. Send them home in a taxi if they have drunk too much.
- Drink in moderation.
