This article explains how to submit videos on Discord. Before we begin, however, we must consider that the files should not be larger than 8 MB, unless you have subscribed to Nitro, a feature that offers 50 MB. To get around this, you can upload the movie to other video sharing platforms, such as YouTube.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using Discord
Step 1. Open Discord on your computer
It can be found in the "Start" menu or in the "Applications" folder. You can also use the mobile application, which you can find on the Home screen, in the app menu or by doing a search.
Log in if prompted
Step 2. Enter the chat in which you want to share the video
You can use server chat or private chat.
Step 3. Click or press the "+" symbol in the chat box
You can find it to the left of the text field. The file browser will open.
If you are using a mobile device, a list of icons will appear. Press on the third from the left. It depicts a piece of paper folded at an angle. You will see a list of all your files, including videos
Step 4. Find the video you want to share and double click or tap on it
If you use the application, you will see a green check mark next to the selected video.
Step 5. Click Upload
If necessary, the video can be marked as a spoiler. You can also add a comment.
- If you use the application, click on the blue paper airplane symbol, which is located above the window in which you selected the file.
- The file will be uploaded to the chat as long as it does not weigh more than 8MB or 50MB (if you have expanded it). Most video formats are accepted, such as ".mov" and ".mp4".
Method 2 of 2: Using YouTube
Step 1. Log in to YouTube at
You can automatically upload videos up to 15 minutes long. To be able to upload longer videos, you just need to verify your account. If your account has not yet been verified, you will see a notification on the application or website inviting you to complete the process.
- You can also use the YouTube application, which can be found on the Home screen or in the application menu. If you haven't installed it, you can download it for free from the App Store or the Google Play Store.
- You can use this method to upload videos that weigh more than 8MB, then share the link on Discord.
Step 2. Click on the camera symbol
It is located at the top right of the browser, next to your profile picture.
If you use the application, you will see the camera icon in the upper right corner of the screen
Step 3. Click Upload Video
If you use the application, you will see a page where you will be given the option to broadcast live or select a video from the gallery. Select the movie in the gallery to upload it.
Step 4. Configure the settings associated with video privacy
By clicking on Public, a drop-down menu will appear. Select the "Public", "Unlisted", "Private" or "Scheduled" option.
If you use the app, the privacy settings are located next to the title and description of the video, below the preview. You may need to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see more options
Step 5. Drag and drop the video into the browser
You can also click "Select File" in the main window to open a file browser, so you can find the movie this way. Supported file types are. MOV,. MPEG4,. MP4,. AVI,. WMV,. MPEGPS,. FLV, 3GPP, WebM, DNxHR, ProRes, CineForm, HEVC (h265). As soon as you have selected or released a video in the browser, the loading of the video will start.
On the application, you will also be given the option to add filters or edit the video. When you are ready to load it, tap on the airplane symbol in the top right corner of the application
Step 6. Enter the video information, including title, description and tag
You can also choose a preview for the movie by clicking on one of the suggested images below the text fields.
- Click on the "Basic Information", "Translations" and "Advanced Settings" tabs to add more information about the video. On the left you will see a preview and the link of the video.
- In this section you can copy the link of the video.
Step 7. Click Done
On the website, you will be redirected to the page where the upload will be completed, showing you the thumbnail and link of the video. Copy the link to share it with your friends on Discord.
On the application, at the end of the upload you will be redirected to the library of uploaded videos. Click on the three dots symbol next to the video and then on "Share" to get the link or share the video via email
Step 8. Share the link on Discord
Go back to the chat or channel on Discord and paste the link you copied in the previous steps. Your Discord friends will then see the video link.
