It is advisable to bring the bottle close to the neck to see if the shade matches that of your skin. When you have found the right one, write it down or don't forget it during your next purchases.
Advice
- If you choose a wrong shade, check if the store expects the product to be returned. Most perfumeries accept returns of cosmetic products (even if they have been opened and used for trial), as long as they are returned within a few weeks of sale.
- The hues, the texture and the type of skin change over time or even the seasons. Replace foundation with one that has a color or formula suitable for any changes in your skin.
- If you have difficulty choosing the shade, take it darker, because this will make the tone of your complexion warmer, avoiding the "mask" effect and making the skin more pleasant than a pale-colored foundation.
Warnings
- Be honest with yourself when choosing the shade. Many of us would prefer to have a darker or lighter skin tone than we actually have, but foundation is certainly not the best way to modify it.
- Do not use your wrist as a reference point to choose the shade, because in those areas the color and texture of the skin are very different from that of the face.
