The Windows Registry is a database that stores Microsoft Windows operating system settings and options. Contains information and settings of hardware, operating system software, non-system software and user settings. Also in this log is a kernel operational window that shows runtime information, such as performance and current hardware activity. This article shows how to open RegEdit using two different methods.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: First Method

Step 1. Click Start

Step 2. Click Run

Step 3. In the box that appears write 'Regedit'
Method 2 of 2: Second Method

Step 1. Click Start

Step 2. Go to "My Computer"

Step 3. Double click on drive C:
(or on the main system disk).

Step 4. Double click on the "WINDOWS" folder

Step 5. Find "Regedit.exe"

Step 6. Double click on the found file
Advice
- To access the Registry Editor you will need to have administrative permissions. Otherwise you will get the "Access Denied" message.
- Learn more about the Windows Registry before editing it. Make sure you know what you are doing and what you are looking for so that you can make changes.
Warnings
- Before making any changes to the registry that could damage your system, please make a backup copy of the registry. Do a lot of research to learn about the registry's functions before making random changes.
- If you make any random changes, the system may freeze or fail to boot.
