The World Health Organization announced on May 31, 2011 that cell phones can cause cancer, and consequently listed them on the list of "carcinogenic danger" items, along with car exhaust. This type of study involved 31 scientists from 14 different countries to find evidence of an increase in certain cancer cells (glioma and acoustic neuroma), cancers that take time to develop, and scientists fear that long-term use of the cell phone may lead to the aggravation of the situation.
Cell phones communicate using a signal that travels in the microwave spectrum. The invisible flow of RF (radio frequency) signals pass through our body when the device is close to us, and in addition to the potential risk of cancer, it also causes an impact on cognitive memory functions, disorientation, and dizziness. This article explains how to take precautions when using your mobile phone.
Steps
Step 1. Make a choice by balancing security with convenience
Although there are many studies that prove the existence of side effects from the use of cell phones, there are also many studies that refute this hypothesis, causing uncertainty and misunderstanding. It is human nature to continue using something until its dangerousness is proven, and this factor has certainly positively influenced the continuous and high use of the mobile phone. Obviously there are other reasons, cell phones are convenient, they allow you to quickly find people, to work everywhere and to stay in touch with the world. However, they are also a "massive human experiment". 2-4 billion people in the world experience the penetration of about 70-80% of the energy of their mobile phone inside the skull, with unknown long-term results. When you raise this very useful tool of doubtful impact on your health, do you want to put your safety at risk? Choosing to be cautious and taking measures to reduce exposure to radio frequency emissions is a good preventive measure in favor of your health, which you have control over.
Step 2. Return to the corded phone or desk phone
Try to take most of the calls using the "dated" landline phone system. If you enjoy walking while talking on the phone, get a longer cable. At least try to make an effort and receive calls of a longer (known) duration on a landline phone, for usual conversations.
Do not replace it with a cordless. They too have an uncertain impact on health. For example, digital cordless phones continuously emit RF, even when not in use
Step 3. Limit the duration of cell phone calls
Prolonged use of the mobile phone increases exposure to RF. It has been shown that even a two-minute call can alter the natural electrical activity of the brain for more than an hour. By reducing the amount of time on the phone and using it only in emergency situations, you can also reduce exposure to RF. Turn it off and keep it in your bag, away from your body, but close at hand in case you need to use it.
Step 4. Use a Bluetooth device or a wireless headset to increase the distance between the device and your skull
The best approach to using a mobile phone is to create a distance between you and the radio frequencies. When you talk, put the phone on speakerphone. The hands-free option is excellent, because it allows you to keep the phone away while you speak.
- Text instead of calling to keep the phone out of your head. Of course, messages should also be kept to a minimum. And keep your phone away from your body while sending an email or text.
- Keep the phone away while it rings. Mobile phones release more radio frequencies during connection, so simply look at the screen and bring it to your ear when you are sure that the connection has been made.
Step 5. Stay still when using a mobile phone
If you move continuously, more radiation is emitted because the phone has to refresh the signal. This concept applies to both walking and moving inside a vehicle. When you move, the phone keeps updating its position.
Step 6. Turn off your mobile phone when you are not using it
A phone in standby mode still emits radiation. When it is off, no. Do not carry the phone in contact with your body, keep it in your bag. This is important, especially if you have the habit of putting it in your pocket, near the groin. Research has shown that men who hold the phone near their groin have a reduction in sperm counts of more than 30%. Keep it away from your vital organs (heart, liver, etc.).
Step 7. Consider not giving a phone to children or limiting its use only in emergency circumstances
Remember that children are more susceptible to cell phone radiation. Their skulls are thinner and their brains less developed. Furthermore, since they are in the growth phase, their cells reproduce at a faster rate, and this means that the impact of radiation could be much worse.
Step 8. Choose to purchase a product designed to protect you while using your phone
There are dozens of devices on the market that can be right for you. Read carefully the information attached to these devices and choose the one that's right for you. Here are some of the possibilities:
- An EMF protection device for mobile phones. They are small buttons that when attached to the phone reduce the effect of the transmitted signals.
- A shield. It is applied to the phone speaker.
Step 9. Purchase a low-radiation cell phone
Some phones are definitely better than others in this respect, so as a consumer, make a smart purchase so that phone manufacturers know what people want.
- You can understand how much RF is absorbed by the body by checking the SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) of the chosen cell phone brand.
- The less complicated your phone is, the less energy it takes to make it work, and the less radiation your skull absorbs. It may sound a little disappointing if you use your phone to play it, but that's what laptops, consoles and tablets are for!
Advice
- Keep the phone out of the bedroom and sleeping quarters. Turn it off if you leave it with you while you sleep, for example when you are traveling or in a hotel.
- As difficult as it may be, because it depends on the authorities responsible for the master plan, try not to live near a telecommunications tower. There is several evidence of the danger of these structures to health.
- Symptoms of RF poisoning attributable to cell phone use include: dizziness, slight confusion, chills running down the face, from the ears to the neck. Listen to your body, if you suspect a link between your symptoms and the use of the mobile phone, take the advice above to limit exposure to RF.
- Cell phones are also known as portable phones.
Warnings
- Do not make phone calls when the network signal is weak. The weaker the signal, the harder the phone has to work to maintain the connection, thus emitting more RF.
- Avoid using your cell phone if you are sick or pregnant. If you are sick, the body is unable to defend itself against radiation well, while a baby in the womb could suffer the effects of radiation.
- Do not use your mobile phone while driving. It is a very dangerous distraction and can lead to accidents, injuries and death.
- If you decide to replace your phone with a low-radiation one or stop using it altogether, recycle it properly instead of giving it to someone else.
- Research on which safety guidelines for RF emissions have been developed cannot rule out the possibility that these waves cause head cancer after ten or twenty years of use. Since it will still take some time to determine this, in the meantime it can be beneficial for your health to take preventive measures.
- It has been shown that the headphones supplied with the mobile phone intensify the emission of radiation into the auditory canal. Don't use them! Use wireless headphones.
- Do not make calls if you are near metal structures, in a car or in an elevator. Metal reflects radiation on nearby people. (Faraday Cage Effect)
