Step 1. Develop good interpersonal skills
A good PA is unflappable under pressure. Working with difficult personalities like the CEO tends to put pressure on the Personal Assistant, who must be able to handle stress.
Step 2. Develop good communication skills
It is the first point of contact with customers, so the PA must be a good verbal communicator. The ability to influence people is essential, as is the need to negotiate with others for time and resources. Good written communication skills are necessary because the PA often has to respond to communications on behalf of the boss, and sometimes write reports and summaries.
Step 3. Develop good computer skills

Understanding internet marketing and search engine behavior will allow the PA to add value to his role and provide the best possible assistance to his boss.

In the technologically advanced society, it is essential that the PA have a good knowledge of new technologies. The PA should keep up with the latest office gadgets like the copier and the boss's Blackberry. A good PA will recommend changes in office technology to improve efficiency. Doing the necessary research to understand how to use the new technology will be cost effective for the company.
Step 6. Develop the skills needed to:
