It is generally performed by dermatologists or beauticians, but on the market there are various devices that can be used at home, so that the costs are much more affordable than those of professional treatments. These devices feature shorter needles that help substantially reduce pore size, sebum production, and wrinkles. Before starting, choose a product that suits your needs, read the instructions carefully, sterilize the device and wipe it gently on the epidermis. Part 1 of 3: Preparing for Home Treatment
Step 1. To perform microneedling at home you need to choose a device that suits your needs
There are three types of product: dermaroller, derma stamp and derma pen. The first is the cheapest and must be passed on the skin as if it were a whitening roller. Some dermatologists recommend the derma stamp or the derma pen because vertical penetration is less painful and facilitates the procedure on areas such as the mouth, eyes and nose.

Step 2. Determine the length of the needles
Most household devices use much shorter needles than professional ones. For example, in beauty centers they use needles whose length varies from 0, 5 to 3 mm, depending on the treatment. At home, shorter needles should be used. To perform a general anti-aging procedure, a length between 0, 25 and 1 mm is recommended. Those wishing to treat acne scars should use a longer needle, approximately 1.5mm in length.

Step 3. Read all instructions carefully before using a microneedling device
In the manual you will find detailed information on the preparation, storage and use of the product. Since every single device has small differences, it is important to read the guide carefully.

Step 4. Before proceeding, sterilize the device by placing it in a bowl filled with isopropyl alcohol, with the needles facing down
Let it soak for at least a minute or two.
Step 5. Finally, always before starting, wash your face with a mild cleanser to remove all dirt and makeup residue from the epidermis
This will help avoid contaminating the skin during the procedure. It is therefore good to perform the treatment on a clean face.

Part 2 of 3: Using a Derma Roller, Derma Stamp or Derma Pen at Home
Step 1. Divide the face into about six sections
You don't have to mark them, just imagine them. For example, you could try to divide it into the following parts: forehead, cheeks, chin, eye area, nose and upper lip. This will ensure that you cover the entire skin surface adequately and that you carry out the procedure step by step.

Step 2. Turn on the derma roller and wipe it gently on your face
You should move it vertically, horizontally and diagonally, drawing stripes that cover every single section of the face. As you pass the device, keep the skin taut with the other hand. This will make the procedure easier.
Don't pass it too many times on the same area in one sitting. Each time the treatment is performed, you should calculate a maximum of 10 passes per section
Step 3. Do not apply excessive pressure during the roller, stamp or pen procedure
Make it light or just moderate. You may feel a slight tingling or discomfort at first, but the device does not harm or injure your skin in any way.
Step 4. When you need to change direction, lift it completely from your face, then place it back on the epidermis positioning it in the right way
Never drag or rotate it on the skin surface to switch from vertical to diagonal position. This movement could cause lacerations and other damage.
Part 3 of 3: Procedures to Follow After Microneedling
Step 1. Do not wash your face for 6-8 hours after the treatment
Although microneedling does not harm the skin, it will likely be red and sore after the treatment is complete. Let it sit and don't wash your face for at least 6-8 hours.
- Some people recommend applying a vitamin-based moisturizer or serum right after the procedure. You can give it a try to figure out which method is best for your skin.
- Avoid wearing makeup for 24 hours, but be sure to use sunscreen.
Step 2. Disinfect the device after each use
Wash the needles with hot water and place them in a bowl filled with isopropyl alcohol. This will eliminate any bacteria it has come into contact with. It is very important to keep it clean and disinfected.
Do not share it with other people: use it only and exclusively on your face
Step 3. Keep it in the original box after cleaning it to prevent the needles from breaking or being damaged
