Cloning Pokemon is a demanding process that takes advantage of some technical problems of the game or the game system. Many of these bugs have been fixed over the years, rendering some of the previous methods useless. In any case, in Pokemon X and Y there is still an error that will allow you to clone your Pokemon without any problems. However, there are other similar methods that worked in previous games and may still be valid for some people. Start reading from Step 1 to find out more.
Steps
Step 1. Get two 3DS with two copies of the game
You will need two different 3DS, to use at the same time.
If you are trying to clone Pokemon with a previous game, you will obviously need a regular DS
Step 2. Determine the Pokemon to clone
You will need the Pokemon you want to clone, but also a second Pokemon that you are willing to lose without a problem. The process, in fact, will involve deleting a Pokemon.
From now on we will call the DS that contains the Pokemon to be cloned DS1, while the one with the Pokemon to be deleted DS2
Step 3. Start the exchange with the DS2
Start the trade with the DS that contains the Pokemon you don't want to clone. Start the exchange normally.
Step 4. Put the DS2 aside
Once the trade has begun, you can also put the DS2 aside. You will only have to worry about the DS1.
Step 5. Turn off the DS1
It is advisable to count, perhaps using a stopwatch for greater accuracy, 4 seconds from the appearance of the blue screen (with the message "Communication in progress, please wait" on the lower half of the screen). Once this time has elapsed, turn off DS1 to stop swapping. You won't have to turn it off completely, just get to the gray screen of sleep mode.
Check for a black screen and error message on the DS2. If a black screen and an error message appear on the DS2 screen, then the cloning process has probably worked
Step 6. Restart the game
Press the home button and restart the game on the DS1. You will need to restart DS2 as well.
Step 7. Search for your clone
A clone of the DS1 Pokemon should now have appeared on the DS2.
Step 8. Keep trying again until you make it
Don't be discouraged! Keep trying until the process works correctly!
Step 9. Try an alternative method
To clone Pokemon with an alternative method you can try to hack the Global Trading Station, but this is a complicated process that can ruin your 3 / DS and make cloned Pokemon easily recognizable in competitions. If you want to try, however, it's up to you to decide.
Advice
- Use a stopwatch to count the time more accurately. Timing is the key!
- Items possessed by the Pokemon can change the exchange rate. It is advisable to clone a Pokemon with no items.
