This article explains how to install APK format files on an Android phone or tablet. APK stands for Android Package Kit, which is the standard format used to distribute Android apps. The following instructions assume that you want to install an application from a different source than the Google Play Store. Steps
Part 1 of 2: Giving Permission to Unknown Sources
Step 1. Open the settings application
on the device.
Step 2. Scroll down and tap Security
It is located in the "Personal" section of the menu.
Step 3. Swipe to Unknown Sources to activate it
Step 4. Tap OK
At this point you will be able to install applications from sources other than the Google Play Store.
Part 2 of 2: Install an APK File
Step 1. Open a browser on your device
Step 2. Search for an APK file
Sites like https://AppsApk.com and https://AndroidPIT.com offer a good selection of APK files.
Alternatively, you can locate an APK file on your computer and generate a QR code to scan with your Android device
Step 3. Tap the link to download the file you want to install
Once the download is complete, you will receive a notification in the download bar.
If you get a warning to remind you that you risk damaging your device, tap "OK"
Step 4. Open the taskbar
It usually looks like a grid of dots ⋮⋮⋮ and is located at the bottom of the screen, in the central part.
Alternatively, you can usually tap the "Download complete" notification in the notification bar
Step 5. Tap File Manager
Step 6. Tap Download
Step 7. Tap the APK file you downloaded
Step 8. Tap INSTALL at the bottom right
This way the downloaded APK file will be installed on your device.
