How to turn a ferocious wolf into a loyal dog? They happen to be crazy about the bones. Once your dog is tamed, he will follow you and fight with you.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Taming a Wolf
Step 1. Turn off Peaceful difficulty
If you are playing in this mode, increase the difficulty until you have tamed the wolf. These animals do not appear in Peaceful mode, just as you will not find the skeletons from which you can get the bones. Once the ferocious beast is tamed, the dog will not disappear when you change the difficulty again.
Step 2. Get some bones
You can find them in Survival mode by killing skeletons, or by opening chests in desert or jungle temples. Get at least 5 bones for each wolf you want to tame, preferably 10.
- When hunting skeletons, you also kill zombies and collect rotten meat. This is a useful item to feed your dog.
- If you are in Creative mode, add them to your inventory.
Step 3. Find a wild wolf
These animals inhabit the Taiga and Forest biomes, usually near birch trees. They are not hostile unless you attack them first.
- If you are not against the idea of starting a game in a new world, you can find many world seeds with large Taiga biomes on the internet.
- In Creative mode, you can make a wolf appear anywhere in the world.
Step 4. Equip the bones
When you hold a bone in your hand, wolves usually move towards you. Be careful not to click on the animal, or all its peers in the vicinity will attack you.
Step 5. Press the Tame button until the wolf calms down
You will see the Tame button appear on the screen. Press it and you will use a bone, attempting to tame the animal. If you see ashes appear above the beast your attempt has gone wrong, if you notice a heart and a collar you have been successful. Often you will need 3-6 tries, or even more if you are unlucky.
Be very careful to click the Tame button and not the wolf. It's easy to accidentally click on the animal and make it hostile
Part 2 of 2: Playing with Your Dog
Step 1. Tell him to sit or stand up
The dog will follow you until you bring your character's hand over him and press the Sit button that appears. When you want to make him move again, you can press Stand after moving the mouse over him.
Step 2. Take it with you for protection
Dogs attack almost any enemy that attacks you or that you hit. However, they avoid certain types of monsters, such as creepers.
Step 3. Feed the dog to cure him
As he takes damage, you will see him lower his tail. Equip a piece of meat (of any kind) and give it to the injured animal to heal it. You can also use rotten meat.
You can't feed a dog with bones. They only work on wild wolves
Step 4. Dye the dog's collar
You can color it by hovering the mouse over it with a dye in your hand and pressing the Color button on the screen.
You can find ingredients for making tinctures in chests
Step 5. Have two dogs breed by feeding them
Once you have tamed two wolves, bring them to the same spot. Give both of you a piece of meat by equipping the food and bringing the mouse over the animals. Once they have eaten, hearts will appear on their heads. They will approach and a puppy will appear, already domesticated.
Advice
- If you don't see the option to tame the wolf appear, go to the options and make sure "Hide GUI" is not enabled. You can also try reducing the "D-pad size" slider.
- Standing dogs will teleport to you if you stray too far. To prevent this from happening, have them sit down.
- If you are afraid of attacking skeletons, stay indoors until dawn. Go outside and you will see the monsters burn under the sunlight. Skeletons that die this way leave bones from time to time.
- With five bones, you have an 87% chance of taming a wolf. On a 10, the probability rises to 98%.
- If you can't follow the advice described in this guide, upgrade your version of Minecraft Pocket Edition. You must have at least version 0.9 to tame a dog.
Warnings
- If you hit a wolf in the presence of others in its pack, they will all become hostile.
- You cannot tame a wolf that is attacking you. The animal will continue to chase you until you escape, die or kill it.
