Bagon is a Dragon-type Pokémon, which makes it a great addition to your Pokémon team. Bagon can evolve into his Shelgon and Salamence forms, making him a very powerful pokémon. In addition, in the latest versions of the video game it also has the ability to perform a "Mega Evolution". Since there is only one place in the entire game where you will have a chance to spot it, being able to find it while playing Pokémon Emerald is not easy. Once you have located this secret place, however, you can capture as many as you want.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Get the Move HM07 Cascade
Step 1. Follow the game's storyline to get the "Mind" medal
In order to get the "Cascade" move, you need to complete most of the game. This hidden ability is key to reaching Bagon's whereabouts. The "Waterfall" move allows you to go up the waterfalls scattered throughout the game world. You can earn the "Mind" medal in the city of "Greenbreaks".
Step 2. Fight the "Team Aqua" inside the "Abyssal Cave"
After getting the "Mind" medal, you will be able to use the "Sub" move. Use this new ability when you reach the deep waters south of the city of "Greenbreathing", this way you will find the cave "Abyssal Lair".
Step 3. Continue along route 126 until you reach the town of "Ceneride"
If you've been to this city before, you can quickly reach it using the "Fly" move. Head to the north side of the city to meet "Rocco Petri".
Step 4. Reach the "Cave of the Times"
Rocco will ask you to reach this cave to meet "Adriano". Talk to Adriano to find out where the "Tower of Heaven" is.
Step 5. Reach the "Tower of Heaven" on top of which you will meet the legendary pokémon "Rayquaza"
You can reach the "Tower of Heaven" from the city of "Orocea". As soon as he sees you, Rayquaza will fly away to the city of "Ceneride", use the move "Fly" to follow him.
Step 6. Watch the cutscene, then head to "Ceneride's" gym
Here you will find Rayquaza fighting with the pokémon "Groudon" and "Kyogre". Once reached, it will fly away. Talk to Rocco, you find him outside the "Ceneride" gym, then go talk to Adriano. The latter will give you the move "Waterfall" (HM07) as a thank you for saving the city.
Step 7. Defeat "Rodolfo" in "Ceneride's" gym
After obtaining the "Waterfall" move, you will still not be able to use it outside of combat. To do this you will need to earn the "Rain" medal in the "Ceneride" gymnasium. This is the latest gym in the game, so make sure you're ready for a tough fight. After earning the "Rain" medal, you will finally be able to use the "Waterfall" move to your heart's content.
Part 2 of 3: Finding Bagon
Step 1. Reach the "Meteora Falls" cave
During the game you have already visited this place, so, using the "Flight" move, you can reach it easily and quickly by flying to the city of "Brunifoglia". The cavern in question is located between routes 114 and 115.
Step 2. As soon as you enter the cave, use the "Surf" move to get past the body of water to the right of the entrance
After entering the "Meteora Falls" cave, you will arrive at a natural pool full of water. Head north and use the "Surf" move to get past the body of water.
Step 3. Use the "Waterfall" move to go up the big waterfall
Approach the water and press the "A" button to accept the on-screen suggestion that you should use the "Waterfall" move.
Step 4. Enter the cave found at the top of the waterfall
After climbing the mass of water, on the summit, you will see a small expanse of earth and the entrance to a cave. Get to the mainland and enter the cave.
Step 5. Walk north, then walk down the ladder
Head right, then move slightly up to find a second ladder. Reach the level below using the stairs.
Step 6. Walk to the northwest corner of the cave, then go up the stairs you come across
At this point the road will be blocked by two coaches. After defeating them, continue on your way up the stairs to reach the top of the room.
Step 7. Go over the ledges keeping to the left
The ladder you need to reach is located in the lower left corner of the room you are in. To reach it you will therefore have to overcome the different ledges keeping to the left.
Step 8. Go down the stairs and use the "Surf" move to get past the body of water
Head to the north side and continue until you reach a small patch of land where the entrance to a cave is visible.
Step 9. Enter the cave and use the "Surf" move to head to the top of the room
This is a long and narrow environment, and to get through it you will need to use the "Surf" move. Reach the mainland which is at the top of the room.
Step 10. Walk along the small patch of land until you spot Bagon
This small patch of land is the only place in the whole game where you can meet Bagon. By spotting a wild pokémon in this area, you only have a 20% chance that it is a Bagon. Therefore, most likely, you will have to go through several fights before you can catch one.
Part 3 of 3: Capturing Bagon
Step 1. To decrease Bagon's energy level, without knocking him out, use a pokémon that knows the "False Ending" move
Since it reduces its energy level to 1 point of health without knocking it out, it is a perfect ability for the occasions when you want to capture a wild pokémon. Farfetch'd, Cubone, Scizor, and Nincada are just a few of the many pokémon that can learn this special move as they evolve. Alternatively you can use "TM54" to teach it to different pokémon.
If there is no pokémon on your team that knows this move, use their normal abilities to reduce Bagon's energy level without knocking him out
Step 2. To trap Bagon, use the "Paralysis" or "Sleep" moves
These special moves increase the chances that your "Poké Balls" will be able to catch Bagon. There are many pokémon able to learn these special abilities, so it is very likely that your team already contains at least one.
Step 3. To increase Bagon's chances of catching, use "Ultra Balls"
The "Ultra Balls" are much more expensive than the other "Poké Balls", but they prove to be just as effective in catching a Bagon. If you managed to reduce Bagon's health to only 1 point, and hit him with a "Sleep" or "Paralysis" move, a single "Poké Ball" should be enough to catch him.
