How to catch Deoxys in Pokemon Emerald

In order to capture Deoxys you need to get the "Aurora Ticket" which will allow you to reach Materna Island. On older generation games, it could be downloaded via an event called "Secret Gift" which is now no longer available, so being able to catch Deoxys today is impossible. Fortunately, thanks to the use of some cheat codes, you will still be able to visit Materna Island and capture Deoxys without having to own the "Aurora Ticket".

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Initial preparations

Step 1. Choose your team's Pokémon

Deoxys is a "Psychic" type Pokémon that is vulnerable to "Ghost", "Dark" and "Bug" type attacks. On the contrary, it is very effective when contrasted with "Flying" and "Poison" type Pokémon. Be aware that the Deoxys specimen you encounter will be level 30, so make sure your Pokémon are able to handle it properly.

Make sure you also have enough healing tools with you in case the fight goes on for a long time. Deoxys is capable of dealing a large number of damage, so you may need to restore your Pokémon's health after the battle is over

Step 3. Consider using a "Master Ball"

If you've already completed the game, you'll have a "Master Ball" that you can use to catch Deoxys without having to fight. However, you may want to reserve the "Master Ball" to catch other Pokémon that are rarer or harder to obtain, so the choice of whether or not to use this possibility is up to you. If you want, you can use a cheat code to get an infinite number of "Master Balls", but in this case you will have to use the CodeBreaker, a cheat code engine built into the Visual Boy Advance emulator.

• To use the CodeBreaker to get a large number of "Master Balls", click on the "Cheats" menu and select the "List…" item.
• Click on the button CodeBreaker.
• Enter "Master Ball" as a description.
• Enter the code 82005274 0001 in the "Code" field and click on the button OK.
• Enter a Pokémon Market in the game world and try to buy something. You will be given the opportunity to buy "Ultra Balls", but in reality, having entered the indicated code, you will buy the "Master Balls" without spending any money. Purchase the number of "Master Balls" you want.

Part 2 of 3: Capturing Deoxys

Step 1. Go to Materna Island

If you have had the opportunity to participate in the "Secret Gift" event, you will have the "Aurora Ticket" available which, if presented at any of the ports in the game, will allow you to be transferred to Mother Island. However, since this is an event that took place from 2004 to 2005, it is very likely that you will not be able to reach Materna Island in this way. In that case the only option you have is to use cheat codes.

• Use the CodeBreaker to reach Materna Island by clicking on the "Cheats" menu of the emulator and selecting the "List…" option.
• Click on the button Gameshark.
• Enter the text "Mother Island" as a description.
• Enter the code 4A99A22B 58284D2D in the "Code" text field and press the key OK.
• At this point he enters any of the buildings in the game world to be automatically transported to the Mother Island.

Step 2. Deactivate the cheat code you just created

After reaching Materna Island, return to the cheat code menu and disable the "Maternal Island" code. This way you will be able to leave Mother Island once you have captured Deoxys. Until you disable the "Mother Island" cheat code, you will not be able to return to "Seaweed Harbor".

Step 3. Save game progress

Before solving the puzzle that will be proposed to you, save the game in progress, so that you can quickly try again in case you accidentally knock out. Deoxys or if one of your Pokémon is defeated. Since Deoxys will appear as soon as you solve the puzzle under consideration, you will need to save your game progress before solving it.

Step 4. Solve the island puzzle

• Now move 1 step down and 4 steps to the left, then press the "A" button;
• Move 7 steps to the right, then press the "A" button;
• Move 4 steps to the right and 1 step down, then press the "A" button;
• Now move 1 step up, then press the "A" button. Deoxys will appear and the fight will begin immediately.

Step 5. Capture Deoxys

If you have a "Master Ball" available, use it now to catch Deoxys without having to fight. If not, the goal is to lower Deoxys's HP count until the health bar turns red. The "False Swipe" move allows you to achieve your goal without running the risk of knocking out. Deoxys.

If possible, use attacks that induce status changes, such as "Paralysis" or "Sleep", so that you can catch Deoxys much more easily. When Deoxys' health bar has turned red, start throwing "Ultra Balls" until you can catch him

Part 3 of 3: Return to the Firm Earth

Step 1. Get on the "Motonave Marea"

To be able to leave Isola Materna and return to the mainland, make sure you have disabled the "Isola Materna" cheat code before boarding the "Motonave Marea". The latter is moored to the south of the island. You do not need to have a ticket to board, however you will be taken back to the town of "Seaweed Harbor" which is dangerous if your Pokémon's level is low.

Step 2. Go home

If your team's Pokémon have a low experience level and you want to leave the town of "Seaweed Harbor", you can use a cheat code to automatically return to your character's home. Click on the "Cheats" menu and select "Lists…", then click on the button Gameshark.

• Enter the text "Master Code" as a description.
• Type the following code in the "Code" field:

• Enter any of the buildings on the map. At this point you will be automatically transferred to your character's home, i.e. the place where the game began. Now disable the codes you created to avoid finding yourself at the starting point every time you enter a building.

Step 3. Save game progress

Once you've captured Deoxys and left the town of Seaweed Harbor without difficulty, be sure to save your game so you don't lose your progress so far.
