This article explains how to view the inbox on a Hotmail account. Hotmail graphics have been merged with Microsoft Outlook, so Hotmail and Outlook accounts have been merged. You can use Microsoft Outlook to log into your account on both a computer and a mobile device.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On Desktop
Step 1. Open the Hotmail website
Visit https://www.hotmail.com/ using a browser installed on your computer. Since Hotmail has been merged with Microsoft Outlook, you will be redirected to the login page of the latter program.
- If you open the inbox directly, it means that you have already logged in.
- If another person's inbox opens, log out by clicking on their profile icon in the top right, then click "Disconnect" in the drop-down menu.
Step 2. Click Login in the center of the page
Step 3. Enter your Hotmail email address
In the "Email, phone or Skype" text box, type the email address associated with your Hotmail account.
If you do not log into your account for more than 270 days (or within 10 days of creation), it will be deleted and you will need to create a new one
Step 4. Click Next below the text field
Step 5. Enter your password
Type the password associated with the account in the appropriate text field.
If you don't know it or have forgotten it, you will need to reset it before proceeding
Step 6. Click Login
This option appears below the "Password" text field. This will open your inbox, provided your login information is correct.
Method 2 of 2: On a Mobile Device
Step 1. Open Outlook
Tap the Outlook application icon, which looks like a white "O" on a dark blue background.
- If you open the inbox, it means that you have already logged in.
- If an account other than yours opens, tap ☰ at the top left, then tap the gear icon at the bottom of the menu. Tap the current email address, then "Delete Account" and "Delete" when prompted to remove it from the application.
Step 2. Tap Start in the center of the screen
Skip this step if Outlook opens a text field prompting you to enter your email address
Step 3. Enter your email address
Type in the email address you use for your Hotmail account.
If you have not used your Hotmail account for more than 270 days (or within 10 days of creation), it will be deleted and you will need to create a new one
Step 4. Tap Add Account
You will find this button below the text field.
If you are using Android, tap "Continue" at the bottom right
Step 5. Enter your password
Type in the password you use to log into your Hotmail account.
Step 6. Tap Sign in below the text field
This will log you in.
Step 7. Tap Maybe Later when asked if you want to add another account
On Android, tap "Ignore" at the bottom left
Step 8. Tap Ignore when the preview of Outlook features is shown
At this point the inbox will open.
