Twitter is a social communication service accessible anywhere, on your computer, phone or tablet, and you can also use it to connect to other sites. Being so popular, how you connect varies depending on what you're doing. See Step 1 to learn how to connect to Twitter in every way.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using the Site
Step 1. Enter your login information
When you arrive at the Twitter site, you will see fields on the right that allow you to enter your username or email and your password. Enter your Twitter username or the email you used to sign up, as well as the password you associated with the account.
- If you have forgotten your password, click on the “Forgot your password?” Link. You will be asked to enter your email address, Twitter username, or phone number to begin with the procedure for resetting your password.
- If you don't have a Twitter account yet, see the guide to getting a Twitter account for details.
- If you want to stay logged in to Twitter on the computer you're using, remember to leave the "Remember Me" box highlighted so you don't have to log in the next time you visit the site. Don't do it on public computers.
Step 2. Click the “Login” button
After entering your information, click the "Login" button. If you've entered your login information correctly, you'll be sent to the Twiiter home page, where you'll see the most recent tweets from people you follow.
Method 2 of 3: Using the Mobile App
Step 1. Download the Twitter app
Twitter is available for free for virtually all smartphones. You can find it in the app store of your device. Some devices are sold with the app already installed.
Step 2. Open the app
When you start Twitter for the first time, you will be given the opportunity to create a new account or sign up with an existing account. If you are using a Google device, you will be asked if you want to create a new account with the Google address.
If you have a Twitter account registered with your mobile number, you can sign up via SMS on iPhone. You will receive a message with a code that you can enter in the app to register
Step 3. Press “Login”
This button is in the lower right corner of the login page. You can enter your Twitter username or your email address and password. Enter your details and press "Login" again.
Twitter can upload your contacts from your mobile phone to search for people you may know. The box that allows this action is highlighted by default
Step 4. Choose the friends you want to add
After logging in, Twitter will try to connect you to people you may know, even if you have not highlighted the box that allows you to upload your contacts. You can check the list and remove anyone you don't want to follow, or you can go to the bottom of the list and hit the "Skip" button.
Step 5. Choose the accounts you want to follow
After choosing the friends to add, you will be asked if you want to follow any of the users recommended by Twitter. Click the "+" button next to the people you want to follow and then click "Next" when done.
Step 6. Edit your profile
After selecting friends and users to follow, you will be given the option to edit your profile. This only happens the first time you log in from your mobile phone. Check your profile information and make sure they look the way you want on your mobile. Click the "Finish" button when you are done.
- Biographies that are too long can be boring to read on your cell phone, so consider shortening yours if it tends to be verbose.
- You can change the profile picture with an existing photo on your phone or you can use the camera to take a new one.
Step 7. Decide if you want to let Twitter have access to your location
After completing your profile, you will be prompted to let Twitter see your current location. This will allow Twitter to show you tweets from your area. Enable or disable this option as desired.
Method 3 of 3: Log in to Other Sites
Step 1. Visit a site that uses Twitter to log in
Many sites that allow users to comment on articles or other forms of social interactions give you the opportunity to register using the Twitter account. This way you can speed up the process and keep the number of profiles you have online to a minimum.
Make sure the site you're signing up for is trustworthy. By logging into your Twitter account, you may reveal personal information and connections
Step 2. Click the “Login with Twitter” button
This functionality varies from site to site, but you will generally find a Twitter logo button that you can use to log in with your Twitter account.
This possibility is only available on sites that allow it. There are many sites with Twitter-related connectivity, but many more require you to create an account just for them
Step 3. Enter your login information in the new window
When you choose to log in via Twitter, a new window will appear. This window comes from Twitter and shows what data the site will be able to access via your profile. Be sure to check this information before entering your login details.
Step 4. Use the site
After logging in via the Twitter account, you can start publishing and interacting with the site. Generally your username on the site will be the same as you use on Twitter, but some sites allow you to change it later.
