This article describes how to delete your account on WhatsApp, uninstall the application, install it again from the Play Store and set up a new profile in order to be unblocked by all your contacts.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Erase WhatsApp
Step 1. Open WhatsApp on your Android device
The icon looks like a green speech bubble containing a white telephone handset. You can find it in the application menu.
Step 2. Tap the ⋮ icon
It is located at the top right and opens a drop-down menu.
Step 3. Tap Settings
This will open the settings menu.
Step 4. Tap Account
This option is located next to a green key icon at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Tap Delete Account
This option is found at the bottom of the menu.
Step 6. Select your country
Tap the drop-down menu at the bottom of the screen and select your country's international prefix.
Step 7. Enter your phone number
Tap the "phone number" field and type the one you have associated with your account.
Step 8. Tap the red Delete Account button
It is located at the bottom of the screen. You will need to confirm the operation on the next page.
Step 9. Tap the red Delete Account button to confirm
When ready, tap this button to delete the account.
Step 10. Uninstall WhatsApp
Tap the icon in the application menu and drag it to the tab titled "Uninstall". This will delete all files associated with WhatsApp from your Android device.
- The location of the "Uninstall" tab varies by device as it can be at the top or bottom.
- When prompted to confirm your decision, tap "Ok" or "Confirm".
Step 11. Restart Android
Restarting your device will clear all temporary and cache files from your mobile or tablet.
Part 2 of 2: Reinstall WhatsApp
Step 1. Open the Google Play Store on Android
Search and tap the Play Store icon
in the application menu to open it.
Step 2. Search for WhatsApp in the Play Store
Tap the search bar at the top of the screen and type "WhatsApp".
Step 3. Tap the green Install button
This way the application will be downloaded and reinstalled on your device.
Step 4. Tap the green Open button
When installation is complete you will see a green button that will allow you to open the application, exiting the Play Store.
Step 5. Tap the Agree button and continue
This key allows you to set up a new account.
Step 6. Set up a new account on WhatsApp
You will need to verify your phone number via SMS and enter a username. The new account will be unlocked for all contacts who had blocked the old one.
