This article explains how to add a Telegram channel to your chat list and follow its messages using an iPhone or iPad.
Steps
Step 1. Open Telegram on your iPhone or iPad
The app icon looks like a paper airplane in a blue circle.
Step 2. Select the Chat tab
This button looks like a dialogue bubble and is located at the bottom of the screen. This will open the list of all conversations.
If Telegram opens a particular conversation, tap the button to go back and see the list of chats
Step 3. Scroll through the chat list
This will bring up the search bar at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Tap the search bar at the top of the screen
Inside you can read the word "Search". You can find it at the top of the chat list.
Step 5. Press the 123 key on your keyboard
It is located in the bottom left corner and opens the section of the keyboard that contains special characters.
Step 6. Select @ on the keyboard
The "@" symbol will then be typed into the search field and this will allow you to search for a channel by name.
Step 7. Enter the name of the channel you wish to join
After entering the "@" symbol in the search field, type in the channel name. In the list below the bar, all relevant channels and bots will appear.
- Make sure you enter the "@" symbol before typing the keyword in the search bar. Also, the keyword should exactly match the channel name.
- If you don't know the name of any channel, try searching for @tchannelsbot, which is "Telegram Channels Bot". This will help you find various interesting channels.
Step 8. Tap the channel name in the results list
A new conversation will open between you and the channel in question.
Step 9. Tap the Join button
It's at the bottom of the chat. Tapping it will add you to the channel. You will be able to open it and see the messages written in the channel from the chat list.
