This guide explains how to connect your Samsung Smart TV to the internet by adding it to your Wi-Fi network. Once your television has a wireless internet connection, you can use it to access online features, such as web-based apps, streaming services, and more.

Part 1 of 2: Connect a Samsung TV to Wi-Fi
Step 1. Turn on your Samsung Smart TV
You can do this by pressing the Power button on the remote control or on the TV itself.
There are many models of Samsung Smart TVs. This method should work for many of the newer models, but your television may have different menu options than those described in this guide. If you can't find your options by following this method, download your TV's manual at
Step 2. Press the Menu, Home or SmartHub button on the remote control
The main menu will open.
Step 3. Select General
Step 4. Select Network
Step 5. Select Open Network Settings or Network configuration.
The menu items vary by model.
Step 6. Select Wireless as the network type
A list of all nearby Wi-Fi networks will appear.
- If you don't see the network you are looking for, try restarting your router.
- The 2018 Smart TV models (NU7100, NU710D, NU7300 and NU730D) can only connect to 2.4Ghz wireless networks. You will not be able to connect either of these models to a 5 GHz network. Models produced after 2019 support both types of networks.
Step 7. Select your Wi-Fi network
If a password is required, a window will appear in which you will need to enter it.
Step 8. Enter your Wi-Fi password and select Done
Your Samsung Smart TV will try to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
Step 9. Select OK when the "Success" message appears
Once the TV is connected, you will be able to use all services that require an internet connection.
Part 2 of 2: Troubleshoot Connection Issues
Step 1. Turn off the Smart TV, then turn it back on
Some models require a reboot before the changes take effect.
Step 2. Make sure the Wi-Fi network is active and working properly
Connect a computer, phone or tablet to the same network as the television to check if it works. If you can't browse the internet with the network, you may have a problem with your router or ISP.
- Try restarting your Wi-Fi router, as this often fixes connection problems.
- If you are unable to connect to the internet using other devices connected to the same network, please ask your ISP for assistance.
Step 3. Check your Wi-Fi router settings
If your router has some type of MAC filtering set up, you need to manually add the television's MAC address to grant internet access to that device. Here's how to find out the MAC address of your Smart TV:
- Open the menu Settings of television.
- Select About this TV or Contact Samsung (the option varies by model).
- Scroll down to find the MAC address, which is made up of 6 pairs of letters or numbers separated by dashes (-).
Step 4. Move the router closer to the TV
If your network is working normally, but the TV cannot connect, perhaps the distance to the router is too great. If possible, place both devices in the same room, with a direct line of sight (no walls or furniture to separate them). Samsung recommends placing the router within 15 meters of the TV, but the closer it is, the stronger the signal will be.
- If you can't move the TV closer to the router, try using a device that can extend the range of the Wi-Fi signal.
- If you live in an apartment or condominium, neighbors may be using devices that can negatively affect the performance of your wireless network. In this case, you may find it helpful to move your TV or router away from shared walls.
Step 5. Test the cable connection
If the wireless connection doesn't work, you can connect the TV to the router with an Ethernet cable. Here's how to do it:
- Insert one end of the cable into the port on the back or side of the TV and the other into one of the available LAN ports on the router;
- Press the Menu or Home button on your remote and select Net;
- Select Network settings;
- Select Network type;
- Select Wired;
- Select Connect;
Step 6. Update the TV firmware
If the problem is not with your internet service provider, you may need to update your TV. Since it is not connected to the internet, you need a computer with internet access and a USB stick to download the update.
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/en/support/downloads from your computer.
- Select your TV model.
- Download the latest firmware update to a USB stick.
- Connect the USB drive to your Smart TV.
- Press the Home or Menu button on your remote and select Assistance.
- Select Software update, then Update now.
- Select USB and follow the onscreen instructions to apply the update.
