In general, when a file is deleted, recovering it is almost always impossible. Nonetheless, Instagram saves all your content, even once you've deleted it. There is therefore a minimal chance of recovering them. This article explains how to recover a deleted post on Instagram using different methods.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Check the Instagram Archive
Step 1. Open Instagram on your device
The icon looks like a camera on a colored background and you can find it on the Home screen, in the application menu or by searching.
- Built in 2017, the archive has the default function of removing / hiding posts instead of deleting them. You may be able to find your old content in it.
- Log in if prompted.
Step 2. Tap on your profile picture or human silhouette symbol
It is located at the bottom right of the screen. Your profile page will open.
Step 3. Press the ☰ button
A menu will appear.
Step 4. Select Archive
The list of your archived stories will appear.
Step 5. Click on the Stories Archive button
A drop-down menu will open, from which you can select the option Archive of stories or Post archive.
Step 6. Press an image to view it
You will see the list of all the contents you have archived and, by pressing on one of them, it will be opened with more details and options.
The post will be uploaded along with its original comments
Step 7. Press on ⋮
This button is at the top of the post.
Step 8. Select Show in Profile to remove the post from the archive
It will reappear on your Instagram profile, right where it was originally.
Method 2 of 3: Check the Phone Gallery on an Android Device
Step 1. Open "File Manager"
This application icon looks like a folder and is usually found on one of the Home screens, in the application menu or when searching.
- You will only find an Instagram album if you have activated the feature that allows you to save posts from this application to your device.
- You will only find the videos or photos you took with the camera within the application itself, rather than the entire post you created. Also, you won't find the photos you uploaded to Instagram from your camera roll in this folder.
Step 2. Select Internal Storage
This option is found under "Recent" and "Categories".
Step 3. Select Pictures
You may need to scroll down to see this option.
Step 4. Tap on Instagram
You will see all the images coming from the application.
Method 3 of 3: Check the Phone Gallery on an iPhone or iPad
Step 1. Open the "Photos"
The icon of this application depicts a colorful flower. You can find it on the Home screen or by doing a search.
- You will only find an Instagram album if you have activated the feature that allows you to save your posts to the internal memory.
- You will only find the videos and photos you made using the camera within Instagram, rather than the entire post you created. Also, you won't find the images you uploaded to Instagram from your camera roll.
Step 2. Press the album icon at the bottom of the screen
This is usually the second icon from the right, next to the "Search" option.
Step 3. Select the Instagram album
You'll see all the photos and videos you've made using Instagram, but you won't find a copy of the entire post.
