Updating the Instagram application allows you to access all the new features available and get the fix for all known bugs and issues. It is possible to update the Instagram app in different ways, depending on the mobile device in use: in the case of an Android system, it is necessary to access the Google Play Store and view the list of installed apps, while in the case of a iOS device you need to access the section relating to updates of the Settings app and press the "Update" button next to the Instagram application. You can also update Instagram feeds by simply swiping your finger on the app's main screen, from top to bottom. Any new posts posted by the people you follow will be shown on the screen. Remember that after updating an application you will no longer be able to restore its previous version.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Android
Step 1. Go to the Google Play Store
Step 2. Press the "≡" button
It is located in the upper left corner of the application and allows you to access its main menu.
Step 3. Choose the "My apps and games" option
You will see the complete list of all applications installed on your device through the Google Play Store.
Step 4. Tap the "Instagram" item
You will be redirected to the Play Store page for the Instagram application.
Remember that the list of apps installed on the device is sorted alphabetically
Step 5. Press the "Update" button
It is located at the top right of the page, exactly in place of the "Open" button which normally appears to the right of the "Uninstall" button when there is no new update.
Method 2 of 3: iOS
Step 1. Launch the Apple App Store application
Step 2. Go to the "Updates" tab
To do this, press the button of the same name in the lower right corner of the screen. If there are new updates, you will see a small red bagde appear on the button itself, indicating the number of apps that can be updated.
Step 3. Press the "Update" button next to the Instagram application
The latter will be updated automatically.
- The "Update" button on the Instagram App Store page will be replaced by a circular and animated status indicator: it serves to indicate that the updates are being downloaded.
- If the Instagram application is not listed on the "Updates" page of the App Store, it means that there is currently no update available. To manually update the list of items in this section of the App Store and be able to check for new updates, simply swipe your finger from top to bottom on the screen.
Method 3 of 3: Update Instagram Feeds
Step 1. Launch the Instagram application
Step 2. Go to the "Home" tab of the app
The relative button is located in the lower left corner of the screen and allows you to access the page where all the posts of the people you follow are displayed.
Step 3. Swipe your finger across the screen from top to bottom
The classic animated update icon will appear. After a few moments, at the end of the update process, you will see the new images published by the people you follow appear on the screen.
Advice
- If you are using an Android device, you can enable automatic updating of all installed applications by accessing the Google Play Store, choosing "Settings" from the main menu and selecting "Automatically update apps at any time" from the secondary menu "Automatic app update".
- To enable automatic updating of apps on iOS devices, access the Settings application, choose the "iTunes Store and App Store" item and activate the "Updates" slider located in the "Automatic downloads" section.
