Steps
Method 1 of 7: Method One: Traditional Dressing
Step 1. Combine the ingredients
In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, horseradish, onion powder, mustard powder, celery salt, salt and pepper.
- You will need to use the whisk for a couple of minutes until the sugar is well dissolved from the liquid of the other ingredients.
- For this recipe in particular, seasoned sake vinegar is a recommended option. If you can't find it, you can replace it with regular rice, white wine, or apple vinegar. If you have nothing but white vinegar, that's fine too, but you'll need to make three parts vinegar for one part of water.
Step 2. Taste to correct the taste if necessary
Test with a metal spoon and add more seasoning if needed.
Remember the texture when making changes. A pinch of salt or pepper won't make much difference but if you add more lemon juice, vinegar, sugar, or mayonnaise the texture will change
Step 3. Leave it cool until it's time to use it
For this dressing, it is recommended to wait at least an hour before serving with the coleslaw, so that there is enough time to get to the right temperature.
Toss the salad into the dressing and mix well to combine
Method 2 of 7: Method Two: Low-fat Yogurt Dressing
Step 1. Combine the ingredients
Combine yogurt, Dijon mustard, water, low-fat mayonnaise, and lemon juice in a bowl.
- The color should be uniform, without noticeable streaks of mustard.
- The consistency must also be homogeneous.
Step 2. Taste and correct the flavor if necessary
Test with a clean spoon. If it looks dull, add salt and pepper to your taste.
- You can also add 1/2 teaspoon of dill for an extra touch.
- This recipe is based on liquid ingredients, so you need to be cautious when adjusting the doses, to avoid having too long a seasoning.
Step 3. Cool until use
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you need to serve.
Throw the salad into the dressing and mix well
Method 3 of 7: Method Three: Spicy Peanut Dressing
Step 1. Determine the degree of spiciness you want
If you love the taste of peanuts but are not friends with spicy, you can decrease the amount of hot sauce or avoid it altogether without completely altering the consistency of the recipe.
Step 2. Combine the ingredients
Combine honey, vegetable oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, peanut butter, salt, hot sauce, ginger, and garlic in a bowl.
- The thick, sticky honey and peanut butter will be the last to melt. In particular, once the peanut butter has melted, you can consider the sauce ready.
- Since some ingredients are quite consistent, you may find it difficult to use the whisk to mix them. If this happens, you can use a wooden spoon.
Step 3. Taste and correct the flavor if necessary
Test it with a clean spoon and fix it to your liking.
As a general rule, avoid changing the amount of basic ingredients such as honey, oil, vinegar, or peanut butter. Those that "flavor", on the other hand, can be varied without problems
Step 4. Cool until use
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you need to serve.
Throw the salad into the dressing and mix well
Method 4 of 7: Method Four: Vinaigrette Dressing
Step 1. Combine the ingredients
Combine the vinegar, water, sugar, Dijon mustard, olive oil, basil, pepper, and salt in a bowl.
- Keep whipping until the sugar is completely dissolved. This should take a couple of minutes.
- Note that you will have a fairly liquid dressing.
Step 2. Taste and correct if necessary
Use a teaspoon to taste the dressing. Season with salt, basil, pepper and salt according to taste.
Since the consistency is already runny, changing the aspect ratio won't impact the texture of the dressing in a major way
Step 3. Cool until use
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you need to serve.
Throw the salad into the dressing and mix well
Method 5 of 7: Method Five: Lemon and Capers Dressing
Step 1. Coarsely chop the capers
Arrange them on a plate and chop them into small pieces with a sharp knife.
Use a plate or cutter with a slightly marked edge to hold the capers from moving as you cut them
Step 2. Combine the basic ingredients
Combine the mayonnaise, yogurt, capers, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt and pepper in a bowl.
When ready, there should be no visible signs of mustard and the consistency should be homogeneous
Step 3. Add hot sauce if desired
In case you like the salad a little strong you can add about 1 teaspoon of hot sauce.
Use a whisk to mix well, making sure no streaks of hot sauce are left
-
Refrigerate until use. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you need to serve.

Method 6 of 7: Method Six: Wasabi Dressing
Step 1. Toast the sesame oil
Heat it in a saucepan for a few minutes. In this way you will get a more full-bodied flavor given by the oil.
- The saucepan must be completely clean before you add the oil.
- Heat the saucepan over medium heat before adding the sesame oil.
- Make sure you move the saucepan continuously to toast it.
- Once ready, the oil should turn a dark golden brown and smell of nuts.
Step 2. Mix lime juice and wasabi
Beat them with a whisk in a bowl. Let it rest for 5 minutes before continuing.
Powdered wasabi must absorb lime juice. It will become a thin paste that is easier to add to the other ingredients. If you don't let it absorb the juice first you may have trouble dissolving it afterwards
Step 3. Mix the rest of the ingredients
Add the sugar, sauce, chili powder, ginger, marinara, toasted oil, and wasabi and lime juice paste. Stir with the whisk to mix.
Make sure all the sugar is dissolved before continuing
Step 4. Add more lime juice as needed
Taste with a clean spoon. If you need more flavor, add another hint of lime juice.
Step 5. Refresh until use
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you need to serve.
Throw the salad into the dressing and mix well
Method 7 of 7: Method Seven: Poppy Seed Dressing
Step 1. Consider how sweet you want the dressing to be
If you want a mild salad, add more honey. If you prefer something stronger, cut the required quantity in half.
Note that these variations shouldn't negatively affect the consistency of the dressing
Step 2. Mix the ingredients well
Combine mayonnaise, vinegar, honey, poppy seeds, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix by mixing everything.
It should be pretty easy to tell when the ingredients are well blended, as everything will be evenly dotted with poppy seeds
Step 3. Taste and system
Test with a clean spoon. Add more honey, salt, or pepper as needed to suit your taste.
You can also change the amount of mayonnaise or vinegar, but this could affect the consistency of the dressing
Step 4. Cool until use
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you need to serve.
