Making a homemade dressing is an easy and fun way to liven up a salad. Most sauces require a few ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry. Healthy, simple and suitable for any type of salad, the French dressing is something to try.
Ingrediants
Simple French Dressing with Ketchup
- 250 ml of vegetable oil
- 250 ml of ketchup
- 100 g of sugar
- 60 ml of white vinegar
- 60 ml of water
- 50 g of yellow onion
- 1 teaspoon of garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- A pinch of salt
Low-calorie French dressing with mustard
- 180 ml of tomato juice
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of garlic
- 1 ½ teaspoon of chopped fresh thyme or ½ teaspoon of dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- A pinch of freshly ground pepper
Creamy French dressing
- 120 ml of mayonnaise
- 120 ml of ketchup
- 60 ml of white vinegar
- 100 g of sugar
- 1 small onion cut into wedges
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- A pinch of pepper
- 250 ml of vegetable oil
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Make a Simple French Dressing
Step 1. Put all ingredients, excluding oil, into the bowl of a large blender
Do not use a small blender, otherwise the ingredients may explode
Step 2. Blend the ingredients making sure you get a homogeneous mixture
The onion should be completely crushed.
Step 3. During the procedure, slowly pour the oil into the jug
Step 4. When done, put the dressing in the refrigerator for a few hours before using it
It can be stored in an airtight container for up to 7 days.
Method 2 of 2: Make a Creamy French Dressing
Step 1. Pour the ingredients into the jug of a food processor
For now, don't add the oil.
Mayonnaise is the key ingredient in making a creamy dressing
Step 2. Blend the ingredients until smooth
Make sure the onion is completely mashed.
Step 3. Slowly pour the oil as you brew
Step 4. It is recommended to put the dressing in the fridge, but it is also possible to serve it immediately
Keep it in an airtight container for up to a week.
Step 5. Try some variations
You can add spices and other ingredients such as 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of paprika to the dressing. You can also try using 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce.
