The Silent Hill piano puzzle is a puzzle in Midwich Elementary School and it is mandatory to complete it in order to progress the story.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Finding the plan
Step 1. Go to the second floor of Midwich Elementary School
Step 2. Enter the music room
This room is located next to the bathrooms in the same corridor as the dressing room.
You should be able to locate the music room easily on Harry's map
Part 2 of 3: Find the clue
Step 1. Look at the blackboard in the music room
You will find a large sheet of white bloodstained paper stuck to the board.
Step 2. Examine the sheet
You will find a clue: "A story of birds without a voice".
Step 3. Move over the piano and examine it
You will notice right away that you can only press keys of an octave - when you try to play other keys you will not hear any sound.
Part 3 of 3: Solve the riddle
Step 1. Remember that the title of our clue is "A Story of Birds Without a Voice"
It means that for this puzzle we will have to press the notes on the piano that do not make any sound.
Step 2. Press the RE, which is the second white key
The first verse of the clue says that the pelican is anxious for its reward - that is, it cannot fly very far - and its white wings are indicated, a clue that the pelican is white. Therefore, you will have to press the first white note that does not make a sound, which is precisely the D.
Step 3. Press the A, the sixth white key
The next verse tells that the second bird, a dove, flew as far as it could. However, the seventh (last) note produces a sound, and since the doves are white, automatically the farthest white note that makes no sound is the A.
Step 4. Play the Ab, which is the fifth black note
The third verse tells that the third bird, a crow, flew higher than the dove. We know that a raven is black and that the dove has come up to the sixth white key, so the raven will be the furthest (last) black key.
Step 5. Play the G, ie the fifth white note or the 5th white note
In the fourth verse a swan "sits" next to another bird. We know a swan is white, so it will be another white key. At this point there is only one mute white key left which is next to another mute key (another bird): the fifth key next to the sixth, the dove.
Step 6. Now play C #, the first black key
The fifth verse tells that the last bird, a crow, stops "quickly". A crow is black and a quick stop means it hasn't flown far, just like the pelican; then you will have to play the first black key
Advice
- You must complete the old man's hand puzzle before attempting to solve this; if you haven't solved the hand puzzle yet, the piano will be locked and you won't be able to proceed.
- All birds start "flying" from the left, which means you will have to count from the left as you move to the right.
