Within Pokémon Sun and Moon, Grubbin is a Bug-type Pokémon that can evolve into a Bug / Electric-type Pokémon Charjabug. In turn, Charjabug can evolve into Vikavolt, also a Bug / Electric-type Pokémon. This article explains how to evolve a Grubbin specimen in all its forms.
Steps
Step 1. Capture a Grubbin
You have a 10% chance of being able to encounter a wild Grubbin along Route 1, Route 4, Route 5 and Route 6, so finding a Grubbin may take some time. Depending on the path you are researching, you will encounter a Grubbin with a level between 3 and 17.
Net Balls are a good choice, as they are the most effective for catching Bug-type and Water-type Pokémon. If you are at the beginning of the game, all types of Poké Balls will guarantee you 100% success in catching a Grubbin along Route 1 (after that this scenario will not occur again)
Step 2. Get your Grubbin to level 20
Since it is a Bug-type Pokémon, it is extremely effective when facing Grass, Dark and Psychic-type Pokémon.
- If your Grubbin continues to lose fights, activate the Share tool. Exp. that you find in your inventory.
- To raise the level of your Grubbin, you can also use a Rare Candy.
- When Grubbin reaches level 20, he will automatically evolve into Charjabug.
Step 3. Head to the "Canyon of Poni" which is located on the island of Poni
This is the last island you will encounter in the game. For Charjabug to evolve, you will need to find yourself inside the canyon of Poni Island.
Step 4. Raise Charjabug's level while inside Poni Canyon to evolve into Vikavolt
This rule always applies, with the exception of level 100, so in the worst case, you will get a Vikavolt specimen at level 21.
- Inside the Canyon of Poni you will find specimens of Fighting-type Pokémon like Machoke, Dark / Flying like Murkrow, Steel / Flying like Skarmory, Rock like Boldore and Lycanroc, Rock / Fairy like Carbink and Dragon like Jangmo-o, against which you can fight to gain experience and level up.
- Alternatively, you can use a Rare Candy to level up your Charjabug.
Advice
- Since Grubbin's level will be quite low, you can use a "Minor Ball" to catch him more easily.
- If the Grubbin you are trying to catch manages to successfully call for help, before you can catch it using a Poké Ball, you will need to defeat one of the new Grubbins who have come to help. Be prepared to face a long fight, as this situation can occur several times during the battle. However, this scenario cannot occur until you have passed your first test, so if you are still at the beginning of the game and encounter a wild Grubbin you can easily catch it, without fear that it may seek help from other Grubbins.
