You can purchase bottled mineral water from various sources, but this can be quite expensive. Alternatively, you can make mineral water at home using filtered tap water combined with some commonly used elements, such as baking soda and Epsom salts. By adding magnesium to alkaline water, you can help keep your heart functioning well and regulate blood pressure, while the combination of calcium and magnesium can help promote bone health.

Alkaline Mineral Water with Magnesium
- 1 liter of filtered tap water
- ⅛ teaspoon (0, 6 g) of baking soda
- ⅛ teaspoon (0.6 g) of Epsom salts
- ⅛ teaspoon (0.6 g) of potassium bicarbonate

- 1 liter of filtered tap water
- ⅛ teaspoon (0.6 g) of Epsom salts
- ⅛ teaspoon (0, 6 g) of calcium chloride
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Alkaline Mineral Water with Magnesium
Step 1. Pour the filtered water into an open container
Filter 1 liter of tap water and pour it into a large bowl or container for measuring liquids into which you can conveniently slip a spoon to mix. You can filter tap water using a standard water filter jug, but it is important to remove any heavy metal, such as lead.
If you prefer, you can use bottled water instead of tap water
Step 2. Pour the baking soda into the water
Add ⅛ teaspoon (0.6 g) and stir to help dissolve and distribute in the water. The addition of baking soda brings the sodium to the water.
Step 3. Add Epsom salts
Pour ⅛ teaspoon (0.6 g) of Epsom salts into the water you previously dissolved the baking soda in. Stir until the Epsom salts are also dissolved and well distributed. The magnesium sulfate crystals that make up Epsom salts help purify water.
- You can purchase Epsom salts at a herbalist's shop or pharmacy.
- When you buy Epsom salts, make sure it is a safe product controlled by the relevant bodies, suitable for oral intake.
Step 4. Incorporate the potassium bicarbonate
Add ⅛ teaspoon (0.6 g) of potassium bicarbonate to the water and mix well to make sure it dissolves completely. Potassium bicarbonate will make the water alkaline, so it will help prevent body fluids from becoming too acidic.
Potassium bicarbonate is routinely added to wine to prevent it from becoming too acidic and developing a sour taste. You can buy it in stores or on sites that sell winemaking equipment
Step 5. Transfer the mixture to a soda bottle and taste it
After you have added all of the listed minerals to the water, carefully pour it into a soda bottle. When you press the lever to drain the water and pour it into the glass, the cartridge inserted in the siphon will release carbon dioxide and the water will become sparkling. At this point the water is ready to refresh you and quench your thirst.
Not all mineral waters are sparkling. If you prefer natural mineral water, pour it into an airtight container of your liking
Method 2 of 2: Alkaline Mineral Water with Calcium and Magnesium
Step 1. Pour the filtered water into a container
Filter 1 liter of tap water and pour it into a large bowl or liquid dispenser into which you can comfortably slip a spoon to mix. The water must be filtered with a special jug or similar system to remove heavy metals, chemicals and any other possible contaminants.
Step 2. Add Epsom salts
Pour ⅛ teaspoon (0.6 g) of Epsom salts into the water, then stir until dissolved and well distributed. Epsom salts provide sodium, an ingredient commonly found in mineral water sold in supermarkets.
Epsom salts are composed of magnesium sulfate crystals. They are often used for medicinal purposes, such as relaxing tired muscles, so you can easily find them at a herbalist's shop or pharmacy
Step 3. Incorporate the calcium chloride
Add ⅛ teaspoon (0.6 g) of calcium chloride to the water and mix well to help dissolve. As its name suggests, calcium chloride contains calcium and, when taken, helps strengthen bones.
Calcium chloride is one of the most widely used food preservatives. You can buy it at stores or sites that sell everything you need to make preserves
Step 4. Use a soda bottle if you want to make the water sparkling, otherwise drink it as it is
Some mineral waters are naturally slightly effervescent. You can achieve the same effect by transferring the water to a seltzer bottle provided with the special cartridge full of carbon dioxide. If you prefer natural mineral water, pour it into an airtight container and start drinking it right away.
