This article explains how to save a video shot on Snapchat, so that you can keep a copy of it even after it has disappeared. Unfortunately, it is not possible to save videos received from other users.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Saving a Video
Step 1. Open Snapchat
The icon depicts a white ghost on a yellow background. The camera screen will open.
Step 2. Touch and hold the shutter button - the circular button at the bottom of the screen - to shoot a video
Step 3. Tap the arrow pointing down
It is located at the bottom left and allows you to save the video.
To access the saved video, swipe up on the camera screen to open the "Memories", otherwise open the camera roll
Part 2 of 3: Saving a Video from Your Story
Step 1. Open Snapchat
The icon depicts a white ghost on a yellow background. The camera screen will open.
Step 2. Swipe left to open the Stories page
You can also tap the "Stories" button at the bottom right
Step 3. Tap My Story to view it
Step 4. Swipe up on the video you want to save
A menu will open.
You can explore your story by tapping the right side of the screen to open the next snap or the left side of the screen to open the previous snap
Step 5. Tap the down arrow
It is located at the bottom right and allows you to save the snap.
To access the saved video, open the "Memories" by sliding your finger up on the camera screen or by opening the camera roll
Part 3 of 3: Deciding Where to Save Files by Default
Step 1. Open Snapchat

If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so
Step 2. Swipe down to open your profile
Step 3. Tap ⚙ at the top right to open settings
Step 4. Tap Memories
It is located in the "My Account" section.
Step 5. Tap Save to
… It is located in the "Save Options" section.
Step 6. Decide where to save the photos and videos
- Memories, which is the Snapchat gallery. To open them, swipe up on the camera screen;
- Memories & Film allows you to save photos and videos both in the "Memories" and in the roll of the device;
- Film roll only allows you to save photos only to the camera roll of the device.
