The eyebrows frame the face and play a very important role in expressing one's emotions. Consequently, even the slightest changes affecting its shape and color can substantially affect a person's gaze. The reasons for making the decision to draw them are various. There are people who are dissatisfied with their eyebrows that are too light or have a poorly defined shape. Others lose hair from health problems and simply want their brows to continue to look the same as before. Whatever the reason, you can try different techniques to draw them.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Create the Eyebrow Shape from Scratch
Step 1. Prepare the base
Before putting on makeup, your face should be clean, dry and hydrated. If you will be doing your entire face, take the following steps before moving on to your brows:
- First apply a thin layer of primer. It will prevent the makeup from smudging and make it last longer. This is an extremely important step in achieving a natural effect.
- Apply a thin layer of foundation. Afterwards, apply a concealer on the critical points you want to cover. Blend well with a sponge or your fingers.
- Many people only use bronzer or blush. But if you apply both, start with the bronzer. Once you're done, you can move on to the eyebrows.
Step 2. Dab clear powder on the brow area
It will help you to set the foundation and concealer, but also to have beautiful dry skin. If your brows are too moist by the time you draw them, the color may start to smudge.
Step 3. Mix a black and brown eyeshadow to make the color match your hair as closely as possible
Use the mixture obtained to draw the base of the eyebrows. Mixing black with one or more shades of brown allows you to have a more natural result. Adding a hint of black powder eyeshadow to a light brown blend will make a light tone more realistic, while a hint of brown will tone down a deep black.
Step 4. Create the basic eyebrow shape using the eye shadow blend
Apply it with an angled brush. Use the browbone as a guide to shape the brow. If you stray far from the bone, the end result will be less realistic. You can also experiment with different shapes before figuring out which one is right for you.
If you don't have a small enough brush, you can use a cotton swab
Step 5. Draw the individual hairs with a pencil
Use a well-pointed brown or black one. Make short strokes starting from the base of the brow contour. The features must be inclined in the opposite direction to that of the nose. Drawing some unruly hair that doesn't line up perfectly with the contour of the eyebrows will allow you not to end up with a too perfect result, so that they look more like the real ones.
Step 6. Apply a thin layer of clear fixing gel on the eyebrows
This product will help you keep them tidy for 24 hours, without smudging.
If you notice that the setting gel is making them too shiny, apply another layer of clear powder, which will make them dull
Method 2 of 3: Define Light Brows
Step 1. Make your eyebrows look beautiful
Although they are practically invisible, it is important to have them taken care of. If they have an adequate shape (perhaps obtained with the help of a beautician), the initial definition will be superior. Depilate them regularly by waxing or flossing.
While not happy with the current shape, try to respect it as much as possible when drawing your eyebrows. If the drawing is based on the real shape, they will look much more natural than those created freehand
Step 2. Apply eyeshadow to your brows
Pick up some product with an angled brush and dab it on your brows. Start at the outer corner and move towards the nose, in the opposite direction to where the hair grows.
Contrary to what happens when you draw your eyebrows from scratch, in this case the eyeshadow has to create an illusion of thickness with the help of natural hair. As a result, you will have to work in a much clearer tone. If you have fair skin and hair, use a neutral taupe color. If they are darker, choose a neutral dark brown instead
Step 3. Create the final shape of the eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil
Use the actual base as a guide to determine the shape. Fill in your brows with short, light strokes until you get a satisfying result in shape and thickness.
It is very important that the color of the pencil is perfect for your hair and complexion. Try to find one that is similar to your natural hair color, but a few shades darker. If you dye them, it will be more natural to match it with the color of the tint than with that of the original eyebrows
Step 4. Avoid stretching the tail of the eyebrows too much
Place a pencil diagonally from the nostril to the outer side of the eye. The point where the pencil intersects the brow bone is where the brow should end. Moving beyond this point will make them seem less natural.
Method 3 of 3: Fix Overly Shaved Eyebrows
Step 1. Let them grow back
To fix overly shaved brows, the first thing you should do is stop using tweezers and waxing. The best way to get in good shape is to grow them for about a year.
- Using an eyebrow razor will help stimulate growth.
- If you just can't stop using the tweezers, let them grow for at least three weeks before shaving them again. Doing this too frequently can damage the follicles, causing permanent damage.
Step 2. Fill in the empty spots
Many people's eyebrows have hairless parts, but overdoing it with tweezers on time can make the problem worse.
- Use an eyebrow pencil or apply powdered pigment with an angled brush. Choose a product that is the same tone as your brows. Using both can create a more natural look.
- When using a fine-tipped pencil, fill in your brows by making multiple light strokes to mimic individual hairs.
- Gently dust off excess pigment with a clean brush.
- Add another layer of pigment and dust again with the brush. Repeat this process until you get the desired effect.
- Set your brows with a gel to keep your makeup from going off later in the day.
Step 3. Use tinted brow mascara
Just like eyelash mascara, eyebrow mascara (sometimes called a gel) enhances eyebrows by coating individual hairs so they look longer, darker and more defined. Choose a gel that comes closest to your hair color and apply it from nose to bow. This product also helps you shape your brows and keep them tidy throughout the day.
Advice
- When you're done, compare your brows to make sure they're symmetrical. Don't worry if they have small differences, because eyebrows are never perfectly alike.
- If you have trouble drawing the basic shape of your eyebrows freehand, try using a brow stencil to guide you. You can find it in a cosmetics store.
- If you are looking for a natural result, avoid creating sharp corners or square ends. However, if your natural brow arch is pretty defined, you shouldn't tone it down.
