This article explains how to view the contents of the event log generated by the IIS service (from the English "Internet Information Services") of a Windows computer in order to analyze individual events.
Steps
Step 1. Click on the "Search" button visible on the Windows taskbar
It features a white magnifying glass icon. It should be located next to the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the screen.
If you are using Cortana, the icon in question will have a white circle
Step 2. Type in event viewer keywords
A list of search results for the specified criteria will be displayed.
Step 3. Click the Event Viewer icon that appeared in the results list
The Windows "Event Viewer" app icon should be at the top of the search results list. The program window will appear.
Step 4. Click on the icon
located next to "Windows Logs".
It is listed in the left pane of the window. The list of Windows registers present will be displayed.
Step 5. Click on the registry called Applications that appeared in the "Windows Logs" section
Inside the right pane of the window you will see a list of all application related events.
Step 6. Click on the Source column header located at the top of the list
The data within the Windows "Event Viewer" is shown divided into columns: "Level", "Date and Time", "Source", "Event ID" and "Category". Click on the column header Origin to sort the event list alphabetically based on the contents of the "Source" column.
All events related to the IIS service will have the abbreviation "IIS" in the "Source" column
Step 7. Double-click an event in the list generated by the IIS service
When you have identified the event you want to analyze, double-click on the corresponding record in the table to be able to review all the related information recorded.
