This article explains how to view the system event and error log using the Windows "Event Viewer" or the Mac "Console".
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use the Windows "Event Viewer"
Step 1. Open the Windows search bar
If you see it next to the menu
skip to the next step. If not, press ⊞ Win + S to open it.
Step 2. Type administration in the search bar
A list of relevant results will appear.
Step 3. Click on Administrative Tools
A window will open with various options regarding system administration.
Step 4. Double click on Event Viewer
This option is located in the main panel. The event viewer will open, where you will be able to see different types of logs.
Step 5. Click on> next to "Windows Logs"
It is located in the left column. A list of registers belonging to Windows will appear.
Step 6. Click on a log to view its contents
The log will appear in the main panel.
Method 2 of 2: Using the Mac "Console"
Step 1. Open the "Applications" folder on the Mac
To do this, click on the "Go" menu and select "Applications".
Step 2. Double click on the Utilities folder
Step 3. Double click on Console
This will open the "Console" application, where you will be able to see the system diagnostic logs for all types of events.
Step 4. Click on All Messages
This option is located in the upper left corner of the window, above the column. All messages logged by each process will be shown.
Step 5. Click on Errors and Defects
This option is located next to the "All messages" button. The log results will be filtered, so that only errors are shown.
Step 6. Click on a report in the section titled "Reports"
System reports or user / application events will open in the right pane.
