This article teaches you to disable program notifications on Windows and macOs. It also explains how to use Mac's Do Not Disturb mode to pause all notifications at once.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Disable Notifications on Windows
Step 1. Click on the menu
in the lower left corner.
Step 2. Click on
"Settings".
It is located in the lower left corner of the menu.
Step 3. Click on System
It is the first icon on the list.
Step 4. Click Notifications and Actions
It is located at the top of the left column.
Step 5. Scroll down to the notifications section
A list will appear with the various types of notifications and their buttons.

When a button is activated
this means that the notifications associated with it are enabled.

When a button is disabled
this means that you are not currently receiving the notifications associated with it.
Step 6. Turn off all application notifications
To disable all app notifications on Windows, disable the button associated with "Get notifications from apps and other senders"
Step 7. Turn off notifications from specific apps
If you only want to receive notifications from certain programs, do the following:

Leave the "Get notifications from apps and other senders" button enabled
- Scroll down until you find the "Get notifications from these senders" section.
- Use each app's button to enable or disable the notifications associated with it.
Method 2 of 3: Disable App Notifications on macOS
Step 1. Click on the menu
in the upper left corner.
Step 2. Click on System Preferences
Step 3. Click Notifications
It is a gray square with a red circle and is located in the upper right corner.
Step 4. Select the app you want to turn off notifications for
Applications are listed in the menu on the left side of the window.
Step 5. Select None to disable app alerts
This option is located in the "Calendar Alert Style" section on the right side of the window.
Step 6. Remove the check marks from each notification option
Make sure you remove them from the following boxes:
- Show notifications on locked screen;
- Show in notification center;
- Badge app icon;
- Play notification sound.
Step 7. Repeat these steps for other Mac applications
The new notification settings will take effect immediately.
Method 3 of 3: Using Do Not Disturb Mode on macOS
Step 1. Click on the "Notification Center" button
If you want to turn off notifications for all applications at once, you can turn on "Do Not Disturb" mode.
This mode is ideal for those who only want to temporarily disable notifications
Step 2. Click on the "Notification Center" button
It represents three horizontal lines (each preceded by a dot) and is located in the upper right corner. The notifications will open.
Step 3. Scroll down in the notification center until you see "Do Not Disturb" mode
To scroll the page put two fingers on the trackpad or use the Magic Mouse.
Step 4. Activate the "Do Not Disturb" button
As long as your Mac remains configured this way, you will not receive notifications from any applications.
- The notification center icon will turn gray once this mode is activated.
- To disable it, return to this screen and disable the button.
